Jiex, I am so thankful I came across your tutorial. I've been sewing for over 40 years, but had never bustled a wedding dress. This was a daunting task, but what you demonstrated was exactly what I needed to see. Blessing sweet lady!
I'm so glad this video is helpful to you. Thank you for taking the time to leave an inspiring come. Have a blessed day!
Thank you! Not only did I get the confirmation I needed to know I was planning to do it correctly I now also have a new idea on how to do my bustle so my detail in the back isn't lost. So helpful!
Thank you. Will be using this technique on my daughter's dress.
Thank you so much. I am taking in a wedding dress for a friend, and had no idea how to bustle a dress, which she also needs to have done. You have saved me hours of anxiety on trying how to figure this out. You are a great teacher!
I am so relieved to see it up close and personal! It's just what I needed. Thank you sooooo much. God bless.
You are very welcome! I'm so glad this old video still helping others. Blessings!
This is great. I've bustled, but it was always a chore. You have shown simple stitching, eliminated a couple of steps I was going to be doing. Now to figure out the best way to camouflage loops on tulle.
Thank you!! getting to that step in daughter's gown. you really made it very straightforward.
I'm glad this video is helpful to you. Thanks for the feedback. 😉
Thank you so much for sharing .This would really help. I appreciate it very much.
Great video - very clear instructions and demonstration. The bridal store wanted $100 to do a single bustle on my soon to be daughter in law. They are on a budget so every dollar counts. Thanks for showing me how to do this.
You are very welcome. Glad I could help.
This technique is incredibly fast! My mind is blown. Thank you for sharing 😃
My pleasure! I so glad it works for you, Ruthmarie.
fantastic. Thank you, you saved me lots of time
I'm glad you find this video helpful.
Thank you--so helpful and now I'm confident in doing my soon to be granddaughter in law's bustle
You are welcome, Ruth. I'm sure she will appreciate it you doing it for her. Have fun!
Goodness... I think that's the dress I have for my wedding! 😍
It could be.
@@CreativeArt2Heart is the middle button placed at the bottom of the zipper?
@Paige Turnner, yes. Just play around with it and adjust to the length you want.
@@CreativeArt2Heart thank you!! ❣😊
Thank you so much. The closeup was so helpful. ❤❤
I used your totorial to make a bustle on my daughter's prom dress and it turned out great! Thanks so much!
I'm glad this video is helpful to you.
Many thanks for the excellent instruction and very helpful hints. I've been sewing for many years, but you taught a couple of great tricks!
Thank you so much. Just finished my daughters wedding dress with your help!
Thank you for this video! My mom did this for my dress because of this video. So simple!

I was looking for a way to bustle the train on a black prom dress. I like this technique! Thank you for posting this great tip.
I'm glad this is useful to you. You are very welcome.
Thank you for this! My daughter has a high-low style dress for a school dance and the low part is just a bit longer than she liked and didn't want it to get stepped on. So when she picked up the back part of the dress into a bustle, the lightbulb went off haha. Thank you for demonstrating how to make the loop.
Exactly what I needed to see. Thank you.
This is insane!! I'm looking at the dress and noticed that it is my same exact gown! I'm having a hard time finding someone reliable that can do this for a reasonable price.
I have the same exact dress too!!
Excellent video! Thank you!
So informative! Thank you so much!
You are welcome! I'm glad I could help.
I would suggest you reinforce from the inside, the loop with a small button or piece of batt to prevent it ripping the dress
Yes, thank you for bringing that up. I do reinforce my bustle when the train is heavy. But when it's very light I don't bother especially when I am sewing it o. The applique or on the seams. But it's a great point to share.
UPDATE: I found a seamstress who works from home and only charged me $15 to do this and it looks amazing thanks to this video that she referenced before touching my dress!

Is she in the NY area?
This was extremely helpful!! Thank you!!
You are very welcome! Thank you for letting me know.

You are very welcome! Thank you for taking the time to let me know.
Thank you! 💕
Thanks for sharing incredible!!
You are a great teacher and I love the bustle!
The knot that your using is called quilters knot.
Soo cool! Thank you!
Thanks
Good technique ! Thanks so much
You are amazing!
Oh, thank you so much for your encouraging comment. ❤❤
Thank you for sharing this video! Can you tell me what kind of thread did you use?
This is so helpful thanks!
This is the best one I’ve found! Then you!
What kind of thread are you using? Just basic thread??
Thank you for sharing your experience with this video. Yes, I use basic thread.
This was so helpful -- thank you!
You are welcome! I'm glad you found this video helpful.
thanks, you just saved me a lot of money!
Thank You looks very good. Question, I was wondering about another way that I have seen it done to do the loops for the bustle , but i do not know how to do them. Its were the loops are hidden inside and can be pulled out using a pearl that was placed for easy find. Can you help?
Yes, that's called under bustle. You can use ribbons. I cut the ribbon to 8" long. Mark the dress the same way but attach the ribbon from inside the dress including the lining. Cover the thread/stitch with beads so, it doesn't show. I hope this helps.
Thank you!
Can you show how to add bustle loops and buttons, or whatever, to a tulle skirted dress with no appliqués to hide them in please?
Hi Donna! It's the same process except add a clear button inside to re-enforce the loop. It prevents from ripping the tulle. I would show you but I don't have a gown with a tulle skirt at this time. Have fun!
@@CreativeArt2Heart Thank you! Because I am right on top of it, and I know it is there, I see it glaring at me. I guess others wouldn’t notice! You have eased my mind.. Again, thank you!
wow she used that type of pin some fabrics are very delicate and will leave a big hole in it than around the bottoms you can see all shrink thats what you get when trying to get a cheap inexperience person to do your alterations
Maybe inexperienced person like you leaves holes on a dress. I have no complaints from my customers because there is no holes on their dresses. You sound so bitter by the way. Try to have some fun will you?
BTW, I worked as a head seamstress in 2 Bridal boutique for years. And also a contractor. That how I know they charge so much more than they should. That's the fact? Are you one of those who don't pay your seamstress well but charges your customers an arm and a leg?
Hello Jiex, my daughters wedding dress is a handkerchief style. I'm finding it really hard to try and do the bustle, would you have any suggestions? I wish I could send a picture for you to see. Thank you, Brenda
Hi Brenda! Do you wanna email it to me? Send it to jiexdiy@gmail.com and I will try to help you.
thank you for responding to my question but I found someone who is going to do it for me. thank you again.
You are welcome! I'm glad someone could do it for you.
Hi, my skirt and the lining are both about the same length. Do I put bustle buttons on both, or just sew them together with the buttons and where the loops go?
Hi, can you show how to add appliques on wedding dress hem?
Sure! I will be filming it soon. Thanks for your request. :)
+Jiex DIY thank you love ur videos!
Here it is Akesha Parbu. czcams.com/video/goYcC_eEO2E/video.html
The bride is very short, shorter than five feet tall. The train is long and has no lace on it. Do I still put the thread loop on the outside? Will it show in pictures when the train is down? Should I make 3 buttons the same height, or put the middle one up higher?
Hi Carmen! You can use cover buttons that. matches the fabric and color of the dress. Just play around with the train until it looks good for the bride. You can also do an under-bustle. I use ribbons to tie them together but make sure to add a bead or any pretty looking jewel to cover your thread that's holding the ribbons.
Please do not use satin covered buttons. They will pop apart when put under stress. Most have a plastic shank, and these will break as well. Use 2-hole clear buttons, 5/8 in size. Wedding gown seamstress for 40yrs.
Yes, the plastic ones are not durable. I recommend using the aluminum covered buttons. They are better quality and I haven't had any issues with them. Thank you for pointing that out Ruthanne.
What if my dress is rose gold/champaign colour? Would I use a different colour thread and button? xx
Live, Love & Learn Naturally
I try to match the color as close as possible so it's not so noticeable.
Matching thread/clear buttons.
I don’t like like how big the loop is. I watched a different video where she said the loop flat on the dress to make it more invisible.
This would look much better done under and not on top !
This is not a nice looking bustle. There is no flow to it. It does not enhance the gown.
Thank you for your opinion. The bride loves it. That's what count.
So helpful!! Thank you!
Thanks
