That helps bring the defender in, otherwise, the defender will wait for you to make the first move. This move is relying on the defender to make a move so you can react to it.

I am not able to kick the ball in air,why it was happening
A lot of reasons could be possible, you aren’t used to kicking a ball, your technique is off, you have bad hand eye coordination, you aren’t looking at the ball, you’re rushing it... etc
