But obviously Victor didn’t even bother to watch that fight or he would have known exactly how this would play out.

In reality, that's not legal to do-- you can't duck below the belt line of your opponent. So Mayweather framed his punch and then connected an uppercut. Gatti complained, as though it wasn't his fault he ducked that low. The ref wasn't having it and Mayweather attacked.

Mayweather sees the signal from Joe Cortez+saw the opening, THEN still knew to snap Ortiz’s head right to left with his combination (again instincts) which is the most sure way to jar the brain and create the knockout. That being said; take nothing away from any fighter, pro or a amateur because it’s a small percentage of people who even have the courage to climb through the ropes, let alone those who have the drive and determination to make it to the level of a Victor Ortiz.

Also Ortiz tried to get the win via DQ by not attempting to get up, but the ref didn't get sucked in.
