Thank you, very useful information. However, on my Honeywell TRV the very top plastic circular covering has come off exposing a sort of bigger pin. No one knows where top piece has gone. Does this mean the valve needs replacing?
I have an old Honeywell TRV which has now yellowed ( about 15 years ). Against the colour of a new radiator seems out of place. What is the equivalent make to change the TRV head ( looks very similar to the one you have in the video )? Do you need to replace with the same make or can you have a different manufacturer? Thanks.
Weno longer have tev valves, instead have underfloor heating throughout. Might be able to just change the head, but may as well change the whole thing.

Thanks. Light tap of the pin with the spanner fixed it!

If the main pin has come off the body then yes. As far as i know the pins are not removable.

Much helpful video. Highly appreciated
Glad you found it of use👍
Yes, very useful. Found those words i couldnt find elsewhere
Does the central heating need to by turned off to do this? And can water escape from the valve while you're replacing it?
Nope as you are removing the head and NOT the valve. If you remove the valve water will come out.
Excellent- fixed 5 radiators, much warmer!
Great stuff
Can i just unscrew the old one and put in a new one without draining anything, or turning the mains off?
Yep as long as you are just unscrewing the thermastatic head ie not not using a spanner
@@fiveminuteman Woohoo! Thank you for a great video! Yep...all done!! yeah!!!!!!
U can do this without any draining ?, does boiler have to be off (combi) ?
Get a plumber in👍🇬🇧
I need to replace the Thermostatic Radiator Valve Tops, are they a Universal fit or does it have to be the same make and model ie British Gas?
Some of them are universal so the BG ones may actually be Drayton, but always check.
@@fiveminuteman Thanks
Saved me accidentally destroying the valve, thank you 😅
