- Welcome to Make and Take Tuesday! This week, instead of sharing a tutorial, I'm inviting you into my studio! I hope you will join me for a vlog that's devoted to ribbon organization and storage solutions.

Thanks, Lillian! I'll be sharing more as I am in the middle of another clean out and re-organizing phase. It is a process that never seems to end, but that kind of goes with my job. Thankfully, I have a retirement home just a few blocks from the house, and they are always thrilled to receive the items that I am clearing out. It works out nicely!

So smart you are! I love to see storage ideas, especially everything. I have been collecting "stuff" for 40 years and recently retired. Now I have boxes+boxes×boxes full of embellishments, silk threads, blank dominoes, etc., plus marvelous ribbons from the RRR club and now twine, strange playing cards....well you get the picture. There used to be clubs for crazy quilting, altered art, and such. What you have done with a 10×10 room is amazing and I would love to see the way you store EVERYTHING. You have already given me several great ideas and I guess what I would really like to see is how you store embellishments. A lot of different embellishments. Then perhaps you could show me what to do with a bunch of plain red dominoes!😊

Oh oh missed this one. What a great craft room you have Kathy! Love how you have all your ribbon organized. I know that if I can't see it, I'm not going to use it. You are so welcome, Darlene! I know my room will probably never be featured in a magazine, but it is warm and welcoming and functions for me. I'd rather spend my $$ on more beautiful papers and supplies, so I'm very happy with my garage sale finds. LOL Thanks, friend!
I'm so happy to see your room Kathy, I think I watched one of yours from several years ago, around the time I found you. I love your use of your metal colander, and I have always wanted one of those HF metal multi section storage thingies, and they discontinued them before I was looking for them. I too am a huge vintage button collector, esp of the old white buttons. I have large containers of them. Your storage solutions work so well in your space, and love your window area too.
Forgot to mention that I also wrap vintage laces, and ribbons around heavy cardboard and put them in those decorative storage boxes. my packages or RR ribbons, stay in their wrappers and I just add the year to them, and are also kept in pretty storage box.

@@kathyclementkathybydesign I'll be waiting! My craft room is a little larger, I think 10x11 or 12' and I have two windows on two walls, so that prevents full wall storage.
Wonderful Craft Room Organization tips! I also, have lots of lace and ribbon and I really liked all of your ideas for this! I loved the idea for the thread spools! I'm soooo glad I ran into this video! I am accumulating alot of ribbon and needed ideals on how to store them so I could see what I had. My baskets are not working very well since I have to dig to the bottom. Thank youuuu for these ideals!!!

I'll take any storage/organization help I can get! Why? Because during these last 3 pandemic years, I've become expert at taking things out and ordering new supplies...but I've become lazy and remiss at putting supplies away...great stuff is everywhere!! Can I find everything I've purchased? No. I've asked my son to plan a day or three of helping me to work on my storage room once our Fall rains begin. Yes, I can throw illness onto that pile of excuses, too. Because of not doing shows for these last 3 years, more has come in than has gone out. I really need to deal with all that surrounds me! So! Time to refocus and reorganize! Thank you for all your suggestions and help, Kathy!!
Oh, I hear you, my friend! It's so easy to get overwhelmed with all the "stuff." I literally clean up between each and every project. Papers are all organized in a such a way that I know right where to find them and put them back when I am done. My best advice? Choose one little area each day and put in 15-20 minutes on just that area. It's amazing how much you can get done in those short spurts of organizing. I wish I lived close by. I love to organize and we could chat together while we work. I hope you are doing well! Hugs!

@@antm64 Sometimes we have to give ourselves time to heal. Green tea will help with the energy issue and will also help with general health and wellness. My mom used to say, "Yard by yard life is hard, but inch by inch it's a cinch." Start small, set up systems to help you stay organized and set reasonable goals. It takes a while to tame the clutter. Enjoy the process. And I hope you are feeing stronger every day! Hugs!
This afternoon I literally lost a finished tag that was supposed to go into a pocket on a card...searched all around my work table to no avail...figured it would be less frustrating to just create another one! "Reasonable goals" is an interesting phrase. Covid really sapped my energy, but things are getting better...still can't smell or tase anything. I'm no longer a Covid virgin.@@kathyclementkathybydesign
@@antm64 Praying your strength and your sense of smell and taste return quickly, my friend! Maybe start with just getting your desk cleared off? It's the equivalent of, in the kitchen, getting the dishes done and the sink cleared out. Wish I could help!

Thank you, Kathy! I'm still keeping my ribbon on the spools, stored by color, in cardboard nursery flats and I'm running out of space! Do the ribbons need to be ironed after being wrapped?
Hi, Marilyn! That has not been a problem for me so far. I don't wrap them super tight, and I think that helps. Great question!!!
