Our visit Bishkek travel guide documentary covers some of the top attractions including a food guide (best restaurants and street food), top museums and the city by day. We also cover off-the-beaten-path activities you won't find in a typical Bishkek tourism brochure or Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan city tour.
15 things to do in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan Travel Guide Video Transcript:
Greetings from Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan! Hello from Central Asia. It is our first time here and we are going to be spending a few days here in the capital. So we're going to take you on a little tour and show you fifteen things to do around Bishkek.
First up, we visited Ala-Too Square, which is the central plaza in Bishkek. While there isn’t much to do here, it’s one of the city’s major landmarks, plus they also have lots of benches and water fountains where you can take a quick break. From there, we crossed the street and made our way over to the State Historical Museum.
Another place you’ll want to visit in Bishkek is the Osh Bazaar. It may not be the biggest in Central Asia, but it’s a bustling maze where you could easily spend a few hours. We had no problems at the market, but we were warned by several locals to ignore the fake police who may ask to see documents and camera permits. So keep that in mind if you encounter them!
It is shopping time. Next up we're at the Osh bazaar and you can find everything here. We're seen fresh produce, snacks, chocolates, clothes. Right behind me we have an entire aisle dedicated to dry cheese balls.
Directly across from the abandoned casino, you’ll find Victory monument which was built to commemorate the 40th anniversary of World War 2. The three curved arcs represent a yurt, and the sculpture of a woman standing near the eternal flame is meant to symbolize her waiting for her husband and sons to return from the war.
We missed the start of opera and ballet season by just a few days, however, if you’re in the city at the right time.
And if you’re craving a short escape from Bishkek, you can always plan a day hike to the nearby mountains with the Trekking Union.
As far as food goes, there’s plenty to sample ranging from grilled meats to dumplings, and noodles to mixed rice, plus there was one drink that really left an impression on us.
With our time in Bishkek winding down, we made a visit to Oak Park which is full of sculptures, and then we also visited nearby Panfilov Park.
And that’s a wrap for our trip to Bishkek. As you can probably tell from this video, this city is the kind of place that you experience as opposed to ticking off attractions, so it ended up being a fairly relaxing trip after a few busy weeks of travel around Kyrgyzstan. As always, if you have any suggestions of things to do in Bishkek, feel free to share your tips with fellow travellers in the comments section below. See you next time!
This is part of our Travel in Kyrgyzstan video series showcasing Kyrgyz food, Kyrgyz culture and Kyrgyz cuisine.

Thankyou so much for sharing this video. I went to Bishkek with friends on Christmas 2016. The place in winter is fantastic. The people are very friendly and the food is awsome. Issyk-Ata Gorge, Kashka Su ski resort, Ala Archa national park, and Burana towers is surely not worth missing and Retro Metro was the best. Good luck guys all the way from India.

Thank you very much! Wow, you visited during the winter? How cold was it then and what did you do?
Yes, i did. I went there on january, i was involved in a social exchange program in Bishkek, held by AIESEC. It was so cold i couldn't even feel my hands. But it was a really great experience.
Do you recommend me to travel to Bishkek in winter?
+Ali Ever in Winter Very beatifull in Kyrgyzstan.
ah, thank you for this I was born in that country kyrgyzstan and I'm happy to see lots of fun things there
Thanks! We really enjoyed our time in Bishkek and visiting the rest of the country.
Much respect for producing this wonderful video about Bishkek!!
I am an Indian. Just got back from Kyrgyzstan. Loved it. It was a second visit. Invested in a Gypsum mine in Issyk kul. Beautiful friendly people.
That is really cool to hear! Glad you enjoyed your visit and investment so far.
I would like to start business there. How is this place for business. Can you advice.
@@suchithrachithra5788 People are friendly. Bishkek has a good infrastructure. Language is a problem as most people don't speak English. Almost no Crime.
Government is promoting investors for almost any business ideas as they are short of money.
Plenty of rich natural resources. Not a rich country. Sea logistics is very very expensive cause it's surrounded by mountains from all sides. We only had meals at Indian restaurants. Not many around though. Not much expensive. It's like India as one Som is equal to One rupees. One USD is, I guess 74 Som. Same like Indian rupees. It snows in the winters. Some mountain areas go below 30 degree. Air ticket is around 35k INR. It depends what business you are looking to get into.
I didn't have much of problems of any kind cause I got good direct connections in the government.
Good luck there.
Lastly, I never ever in my life had the fruits tastier than I had in Kyrgyzstan. Can't forget the natural sweeeeeeet taste of watermelon. 👍
Thank you for youtubing my country. As you noticed the food is organic and 100% natural.
Thank you! We really loved Bishkek.

I was there in the Air Force in 2007. The base is closed now.

That's my hometown and it's always interesting to see how the people are reacting, their thoughts n feelings. Did you feel the vibe? It is super calm place. Now I live in the US n when the folks are visiting KG, they kind of feel "cultural shock" ;) in a good way. You guys are have done pretty good job! Keep going. Thanks again

I am currently here in Bishkek. Also making a video at the moment 😁 unfortunately the abandoned building is gone. It's a construction site now.
Oh, wow! I wonder if they're going to renovate it, or if they're building something else now.
@@samuelandaudrey no no they are not. There is a green fence but you can see that whatever was there is flattened. By the way I just came back from the Star chicken. What a great recommendation. Really!

Superb video.

Спасибо за прикольное видео
Very interesting! I spent a week in Bishkek 4 Years ago and remember how friendly the locals were. As you said, watch out for police asking for your passports - my friend and I were stopped and just told the "officers" we left the documents at the hotel. A great little local restaurant to sample the traditional cuisine is "Tubiteka", named after the Kyrgyz headcover.
Thank you! Cool to hear about your experience. Ah, the fake police scam ;) Thanks for the restaurant recommendation. Do you remember where in the city it is located?
Turusbekova St, 31 - a lot of locals there. We made friends immediately :-)
You both are so cute💕😍..God bless you..
Thank you!
You should have visited Chon Kurchak canyon, waterfall,a hot spring and amazing Ala - Archa national park nearby Bishkek as well
Thank you! I hope we can next time.
hi guys, just subscribed on your channel, ive been watching your vid since your finland trip. btw, what cameras are you guys using for your videos?
Thank you very much! Ah, Finland. We'd love to go back. Right now we're using a Panasonic GH5 and Olympus OMD-EM5 ii.
The Museum is absolutely fascinating and if you ever visit, you must visit. It will lead you back into the Soviet Union.
Thanks Nancy. We just loved our time in Kyrgyzstan.
Nice city...
I think that lots of European & American people are now travelling "Central Asia" too. It's cities are so clean & pollution free, lots of green park are available here, it's food healthy & delicious, moreover there are lots of empty space for walk & quietness are the reasons. East Asia are so rich & now Central Asia are also getting rich day by day.
We'd love to travel more in Central Asia. We've only been to Kyrgyzstan.
Thanks. You are great people. I think that there is nothing pleasure than travel.
I like your video. Can you tell a model of your HD camera? I want to buy the same. Thanks in advance!
Thank you! We use a Canon G7X and Olympus OMD EM5 ii
