My friend interns at a women’s shelter and she said that they have boxes ( big big ones) filled with brand makeup that are donated but in incredibly good shape, some are new

an “expiration date” on make up is called and open container policy/stamp. so, it goes based off of when you open a product, not when you receive it. :)

i wanted to scream this at screen! so wasteful to just toss out unused, perfectly good makeup to donate. but hopefully she is more mindful in the future with the amount she keeps.
Everybody thinks that the little label means it’s an expiration but I think it means that’s how long it should last
jhennicide But she does have a ridiculous amounts of makeup and it’s great to clean it up and donate instead of keeping a lot of things she doesn’t like. Besides, many of the products in this video are sent to her and don’t cost any money

The expiration doesn’t start until it is open. That’s why the jar logo is an open jar. It’s a PAO or Period After Opening. If they haven’t been opened you should be ok but if you are worried about old makeup take a quick second and put like a labeling sticker and put the date you opened it

The expiration on the jar logo is not really from when you open the product. The manufacturers calculate with about 1.5 years on the shelves/storage in the store before you buy it and start using it. So it’s that storage time plus the expiration time on the jar that is the full expiration time. So if you buy a product and keep it unopened for lets say five years it’s technically expired. That’s why sometimes at stores that keep makeup sales items for several years can be expired already at the store or starts to turn after 6 months when the expiration date is 18 months. So keep that in mind.

@@aleksaboci7379 I guess not but all I said up there ⬆️ was that all makeup products eventually expire, no matter how long the dates go. Expired makeup is still usable. There will just be a chance of the products not feeling and/or working the same way they used to.
