@mortsdans it really has to do with the amount of bait that's actually sitting on the hook. A fish, small or big. Could possibly bite off a good 7/8 of that bait before it hits the hook. The idea of this rig is used mostly when the fish are aggressive and hungry. That slurp their prey rather than bite or nibble at it. So, depending on the situation and body of water. The hookups may be few and far in-between. It's still a good rig to have in your arsenal.
@@CheekyandTheCripple I've always heard drop shots are for slow days when you really need to finesse em. Good points though. You could always rig a small trailer hook and put it in the tail I guess, maybe I'll try that sometime. Might be fun to actually catch those little fish always nibbling at the tail.

A smaller bait would help that as well.
