New Starter from 1AAuto.com 1aau.to/ia/1AEST00528
This video shows you how to install a starter on your 2009-2018 Ram 1500. The starter is a powerful electric motor that gets your engine to turn over when you turn the key in the ignition switch. If a motor has worn out or become damaged, your vehicle won’t start.
This process should be similar on the following vehicles:
2009 Dodge Ram 1500 Truck
2010 Dodge Ram 1500 Truck

Just did this job. Took me 40 minutes. Did not have to take the steel plate off, and did not need a u-joint attachment on my socket. The bottom bolt comes off with a 15mm socket and 3-in extension. The top comes off with a 10” extension. Takes a while to back the bolts out with limited room to move the ratchet, but with a fine tooth it’s not bad. Disconnecting the battery is NOT optional in this case. I promptly remembered that the hard way. Thanks
Just replaced the starter in my 2017 longhorn Laramie. Super helpful video. Took me about 4hours needing a break in between due to old guy cramps. Glad I had air. Just wish I had a lift.
Thanks for the video, about to swap mine out... here just to get all the socket and wrench sizes, much appreciated for calling them all out, saves so much time having everything at arms reach!!
5th Gen Ram1500's 4X4 the bracket removal is not necessary due to the one piece design that integrates into the Engine mount. You can get the top starter bolt pretty easy with extensions and wobbles. Now the hard part is to get the bottom bolt you need to first slide a 15mm deep socket in between the bracket and transmission onto the bolt. Next add a wobble to the end there is no room to put them in together; don't go down with the wobble, but point towards the drivers door and start adding extensions(3 to 4 ft) till you have suitable room by the drive shaft for a ratchet,it will be a tight bolt so long handle no flex head. Once that is done remove the 13mm nut and connector. Point the start up and over the bracket and sneak it pass the transfer case 👍
Great video!
A little tougher on the ground, but everything was covered quite thoroughly.
Clear and well-explained. Thank you.
One of the best tutorials, short, to the point. Very well done.
Excellent job made my replacement go smooth! Best how to on ram 1500 starter.
Fabulous video. Saved my bacon and made the job go with no surprises.
Thank you much. Nephew truck broke down in his drive way, was able to take tools needed and all he had was pancake compresor we got by. Very informative from jacking up truck to completion 2 hrs. Without air could be a struggle but could be done.
Very well explained you provide the details which are important and especially the measurements of the tools to use very well done
This video helped out a lot, thank you so much
Get lots of extensions and a universal swivel. Harbor Freight 18"ratcheting breaker bar for the top 3 bolts on the black metal plate. Just loosen them about 1/4" and fully remove the bottom 2 bolts on said plate. That's enough to expose the bottom starter bolt. Still difficult with the metal hoses in the way but doable. Didn't have air and no jack.
+@trailcamtrent Thanks for the tip! We'll pass this info along to our production team. 1aau.to/m/Shop-TRQ
Nice demo, thanks.
2021-2022 is way different. The bracket has 9 bolts, 5 of which are where you show them, and the other 4 are bolted on with the engine mount
Sheesh, what a headache 🤦🏽♂️
Yep, I just found that out 🤦♂️
Good job
What color thread locker is it.
What type of torque wrench is that?
Buen video gracias!
might want to specify the year and engine model...

Thanks for the great info, but as mentioned below the nasty plate dies nit need to be removed
Great video but the plate doesn't have to be removed. A 15m socket, swivle, extension and an impact will do the job. Just saying 🙃
Great video thanks! Except the torque valve pshhhh ugga to the second dugga hah!
I took the 2 bolts out disconnected the electrical starter seems to be stuck it won't come out
Thinking i was gonna be able to do this myself but then the air tools came out 😂
Do that plate have to go back ok there ?
yes!!
every ad i watch makes me never want to buy that product for shoving it in my face and getting in the way of what im trying to do.
Air would have been so nice!!
