Hey Fam!!! Ok, George & Mildred wasnât as bad as people said lol Did like & watched this show??
Try Dinnerladies ....late 90s early 2000 comedy about a canteen run by women with a man in charge in a factory very funny...
I've got the dvd to this definitely not boring...this is a spin'off from another comedy George and Mildred appear in which is Man About The House...both original British comedies which has American remakes Two's Company and The Ropers...
Also try On The Buses sitcom from the same era as George and mildred
Anyway I watch a lot if American reacts to British tv and comedies and its nice to see something different as a lot of these reaction channels react to the same comedies and shows
I was a kid when this aired originally mid-late 1970s, but I've seen repeats (re-runs) many times since. Actually laughed out loud to this one on occasions. George was rolling a "fag" (cigarette),which was cheaper than buying ready boxed ones. It was seen as particularly "working class". My father rolled his own too.
2nd best show ever made in my opinion , only " some mother's do have em" was better
@@scottwebb1978 Just watching Holiday On The Buses movie & I rate it as a top 10 comedy movie. It has a lot more energy than the series, some great cameos & very slick sketches all the way through.
How DARE anyone say that this sitcom is rubbish! Itâs absolutely brilliant and very, very funny. I watched it back in the day and still love it now đ„°
Well said Shelley from "Dormat George "
Spot on those that donât like it are dodgy
George and Mildred gets better as it goes on. There are some absolute hilarious episodes to come yet and wait till you meet Mildred's snobby sister!
I loved watching George and Mildred in the seventies! đ§Ą
I didn't find it boring, they were also in Man About The House, I think this came before this show, poor old George đ I remember this first time around, also Robins Nest with similar cast
Both Robin's Nest and George ad Mildred were spin offs from Man About The House - which of course was the inspiration for the American version of it Threes Company.
The kids they're talking about are the young tennants that lived in the flats they rented out, George and Mildred were the landlords... The show was ''Man about the House''... Brilliant series...
In fact Man About The House had 2 spin off series ....George and Mildred and Robins Nest ...in Robins Nest one of the lodgers of the house moves away and openes a Bistro Restaurant
The tea the monkeys drink reference was about an tv advert for typhoo tea, it was chimpanzees having a tea party. I was a young child in the 70s and used to watch this every week. It just gets better.
Loved watching this as a kid and loved Man about the house which this was a spin off from
An absolute classic of British sitcoms that only gets better as the series goes on. I can't believe anyone said it was boring. It still gets repeated today. It was so successful in its time the idea was picked up by an American TV channel as The Ropers.
Another British classic. Thank you for reacting to this.
This was a Spin-off of another Sitcom called "Man about the House" about 2 young women and a young man sharing lodgings. George and Mildred were their Landlords. The younger cast had their own Spin-off called "Robin's Nest." TV used to be pretty good back in the 70's. Started going down hill in the 80's.
George & Mildred was before my time, but thanks to my parents' suggestion several years ago, I checked it out and love it. They don't make sitcoms like this anymore. đ„°
The 2 main characters were the landlords in Man About The House, (of which there was also another spin-off series called, 'Robins Nest'), who up-sticks and moved to a more middle class suburb. Mildred being the one who wanted to embrace a better class of person, whereas George was dead set against it all and would have rather stayed in his old, working class house. Being hen-pecked, of course, he had to capitulate and put up with the posh new neighbours, and formed a friendship of sorts, with their young son. This is very gentle humour for family viewing that's still watchable. The fashions are very late 70's, but the human interaction hasn't changed.
I can't think why some would say this is boring. There's plenty of humour to be had from the various situations that crop up. It's is a situation comedy, after all.
The reference to the tea the, 'monkeys drink', is PG Tips, which used Chimpanzees in their commercials for years.
The "monkeys" joke was a reference to PG Tips tea bags that were (& still are?) advertised on TV by chimpanzees dressed like workmen & voiced by actors.
I love how George winds up the Middle Class twit about setting up Ferret Hutches & Pigeon Lofts! đ
Bloody hell, this takes me back.
I love 70's comedy like George and Mildred.
I like George and Millred, i like how they written millred lines especially talking to George.
This show actually improves as it goes on. The precursors to this show from the early 70s are what the American sitcom "Three's Company" and it's spin-offs were based on. In fact a big part of the top American sitcoms of the 70's/early 80s are based off of British originals (Steptoe & Son=Sanford & Son, Till Death Us Do Part=All In The Family)
Also, there is a 'George & Mildred' movie to accompany the series. And yes it isn't a Hollywood blockbuster, but it's a fun slice of late 70s/early 80s nostalgia. It can cheer up a rainy day for an hour and a half. And sadly Yootha Joyce who played Mildred passed away a month after the movie was released. Joyce Was only 53 when she died. With her being 49 and Brian Murphy only being 43 in this first episode of the show. And this show ran for 5 series. Again it's not the best TV show ever, but it's certainly not the worst. It's probably within the top 25 UK sitcoms ever made. It did well in the ratings. Well enough to get a movie released.
The best thing to do is to watch something that people tell you is boring or bad, simply because you can form your own opinions on it, and you can sometimes be pleasantly surprised.
Also, there are 4 more Bottom live stage shows that you can watch. I got to see 2 of them.live. what an experience! And 3 full series!
Have you tried watching 'Still Game" yet?
If you do please start right at the very beginning with the Still Game live from the Cottier Theatre (search CZcams it's on here somewhere - it won't let me post you the link on here, everyone I leave you a comment with a link on CZcams, it's deleted automatically. Do you have any way for people to send you links that CZcams can't delete?- anyway I'm glad your back, you were greatly missed while I weren't on and all the hard work and effort that go in to your videos is much appreciated! Thank you so much. You are so funny, happy bubbly and gorgeous and it brightens people's days when you put a new video up! â€and let's face it, we all need our days a little brighter in the current state of the world.
Thanks for all you do x
Well done ignoring the naysayers lol, Yootha is a national treasure.đ
" Must get you a rugger ball!" Lol. Don't play football with the rough boys play rugby with the toffs. Lol. Social commentary! Plus the brilliant comic actor Roy Kinnear as the car mechanic!
I really loved George and Mildred, we already knew them from Msn about the House. This was just an introduction to the characters. It does get better.
It was a real throwback to the 70s. I remember when we got an avocado bathroom suite too. My mum was so proud of it lol
This first episode was 1976. It was a spin off from another British sitcom 'Man about the house" George and Mildred were landlord and landlady of the lodging house.
Hi there George and Mildred was the sequel spin off series to Man About the House in which they were the land lord and lady of a house where they rented out a section to younge people and was the British quivalent to Threes Company (American)
George & Mildred is classic British comedy. They even show up in a spin-off series afterwards.
I've seen Brian Murphy (George) in real life at a local theatre back in the late 70's.
Stick with the series if you like it. I watched it every week when it was on TV.
I don't think it's boring at all.
Great to watch this again!
Was Brian Murphy Irish ?
This was the golden age of TV , back in the 70s, great sitcoms , overall everything on TV was just better.
Probably in the USA as well.
I love the classic TV comedies! They're good, clean gentle fun. This along with Man About The House, On The Buses and Porridge to name a few. I was born in '88 but love these. The later comedies like Bottom are ok too.
This is a spin off from Man About the House- about 3 students- George and Mildred were their landlords. I've got DVD's of both- Man about the House was my fave but this is good too.
Chrissy was so cute đ
It was a HUGE hit prior to Mildred died i real life. They were a side bit in an enormously popular British TV series fro about 1974 called Man About the House. This was a spin off
Thanks for covering and discovering this absolute classic on your side of the pond.
A couple of points of interest:
The removal truck driver was played by Roy kinnear, also known for his part as Veruca Salt's dad in Wolly Wonka.
Brian Murphy who plays George latest starred in Last the Summer wine, another hit UK sitcom, as Alvin Smedley.
one of my favourite sitcoms. it does warm up considerably from the first episode
IT GETS BETTER AS IT GOES ON AS MIST BRIT COMEDIES, GIVES YOU CHANCE TO GET TO KNOW THE CHARACTERS
Take. a look at " Allow Allow " it will make. you roll with laughter .
I like George and Mildred takes me backđđđđâ€
I remember this show when I was little in the early 80s. I think there was a spin-off as well that followed their kids. I can be corrected though
There used to be an advert back in his 70s 80s with monkeys drinking tea
Simian Removals were the best before they went private
I just knew you would like this serie. I remember it from the seventies, and loved it. I hope you will do more. And by the way, I still roll my own sigarettes đ Doing that since 1969 at 14 years old
This show was golden, whoever didn't like this got some explaining to do.
Love George & Mildred!, I hope you keep with it, great show
The American version was called The Ropers and was a spin off from Three's Company.
The original UK version Man About The House.
đ Ashley, it's not boring it's a classic in England đŽó §ó ąó „ó źó §ó żđ
George And Mildred Still Rocks
That was funny. There was actually a George and Mildred movie which was hilarious. I don't think it was released in the States.
Hi, I've seen all the episodes made of George & Mildred, and I like very much. The series get better. So please react to more George and Mildred.
ASHLEY this was a spin off from man about the house. The American version of man about the house was called Threes Company.
So glad you are reacting to this, I've just been binge-watching this again. I love this series.
I implore you to give this whole classic (cringe-worthy) British sitcom a go.
I'll say one thing: We can rely on George on saying exactly the wrong thing, at exactly the wrong time, in exactly the wrong company!
As for Mildred, she's often called upon for damage control!
Love that youâre reacting to this!
Yootha Joyce (Mildred) Used To By Me Sweets Most Mornings When I Went To The Shop Before Infant SchoolâŠâŠShe Knew My Grandad. She Was A Lovely Lady.âđ»đŽó §ó ąó „ó źó §ó żđŹ
It is a gentle comedy reproduced in the USA as The Ropers
I really loved it, made me laugh đđ
Bold move, this was magic.
At the time of release, there were many good comedy series out there. So Georgie Mildred really got swamped out, but it is not that bad it's just a bit mild, but still funny.
There was an American version of this called the Ropers threes company spin off the british one was called man about the house as some have said
George & Mildred is a classic, don't listen to the moaners Ashley. Yootha Joyce was a great comedy actress, but taken from us far too early.
George and Mildred was a spin off of Man about the house,On which the American sit com 3 company was based on and the Ropers American sit com was in turn based on George and Mildred, don't listen to what kids tell you to watch they don't know what comedy is anyway
Morning Ashley,,, good to see you this morning,,,, youâre reactionâs are a complete joy,,, just the thing to start the day,,,,, especially as here in London you stand a chance of getting trampled by Horses,,,getting ready for Crowning of King Charles on Saturday.
Not sure if Iâll watch that,,,, or catch up on your blogs,,, both are well worth the time .
Stay well,,, keep smiling,,, love from LONDON.
I love George and Mildred good watch enjoy đ
Like your Union Jack drinking mug!
One of my Favorites!! đ
We still roll our cigarettes like that now in the UK although you can also buy pre rolled ones as well which makes me question why we still have unrolled ones as well đ đŹ

There is a brand of tea called PG tips, which had a family of chimpanzee.
The as with the monkeys was pG tips .
Ahhhh the LWT theme at the start. Grew up on that! lol.
That was Thames Television with the mirrored skyline.
@@Sheffield_Steve Oh yeah!
Rubbishing this means you don't know comedy! This was a Class System send up, Fourmile was the snob, George was working class, and bloody proud of itđ! It was a spin off of Man About the House! In one episode George takes a bath in living room, then snobby ladies turn up, it just gets funnier and funnier! This series was Brian Murphy's finest hour, I believe Yootha Joyce died soon after the series finished, it affected Murphy badly, he fell into a brief depression! Murphy would go on to have one of best This is your Life's, incredibly kind, he gave 6 foster kids a home! They took this programme to thank him for everything, the camera closed up on his face, he was in tears! đđ
Have a look at love thy neighbor a classic British comedy from the 70s BUT you might find it racist from point of view it's racist on both sides it is funny though can't wait and see bottom live 2 reaction

Wow your getting into old shit!!.try Steptoe & sonđđ
This should explain the monkeys/chimps reference đ czcams.com/video/z5em8lQAcvg/video.html
Boring? What? Its great, love comedy
Don't listen to the comedy police. It's a good sitcom. Unfortunately a lot of on line people only like new programs and have dismissed older shows without even seeing them.
Some of the older stuff is the best. But let's not pretend George and Mildred is one of them.
It has its moments. But the characters are great.
It's not really that this is bad. But it's the kind of thing you have a little occasional chuckle to when your nan's watching it. Why anyone would want to watch someone REACT to something so middle of the road and let's face it, dull, is baffling to me but each to their own lol. I suspect some people just want someone to watch it 'with' them for nostalgic reasons and have you tell them it's good, rather than to genuinely see a 'reaction' and hear your genuine opinion.
Probably but itâs not as bad as some made it seem. I thought I was going to be completely bored. Maybe I might feel differently after I watch a couple more episodes. Lol we shall see.
It was of it's time.. not that great now..
This is a spin off of, Man About The House, which is also crap, but better than this. They were side characters in that and in that context they work.
dads army is boring not this
Not the greatest British sitcom.
When they said about the one which the monkey drink itâs PG TIPS itâs the brands mascot
