Which Final Fantasy game is the real one? (as in your favorite).

I'd say that my favorite would be Final Fantasy V, since it has one of my favorite job systems in general. To me, it's the most "real" one, even if the story is a bit generic (though it has its moments).
Edit: I forgot to mention, Blue Mages are really fun to use and they first appeared in that game. I also feel that it was the game that utilized them the best.

16 to me was a great experience, my only downside being the amount of side missions you unlock.

As a big fan of the series, I think 16 is a fantastic game and it absolutely fits in with the rest of the series.
I don't get the complaints about it not being turn based. I do personally love turn based combat, but action games are still fun and it doesn't feel like a betrayal to the series. Final Fantasy 4 on SNES introduced the ATB meter because the creator wanted it to feel like a real time action game, so I'm perfectly fine with this change.
I do agree though that there are some issues with pacing. Side quests are really boring and generic, although some do give really good rewards like being able to hold more potions, those make them worth it but most of them are not very interesting or engaging. Clive's walk speed in towns is also painfully slow. And I do wish we got to see more of the characters fleshed out, Jill in particular I felt was pretty underwhelming, which is a shame because I had high hopes for her. And the story a lot of the time isn't super memorable to me, and at times felt kind of bland. Had those things been better, this could have ended up being one of my all time favorite JRPGs, but I still think very highly of it. Combat's really fun and satisfying, visuals and boss fights are some of the best I've ever seen, and the music is unbelievably good.
Don't listen to people complaining about it "not being a real Final Fantasy" or "Not a real RPG", a good game is a good game either way.
My personal favorite Final Fantasy games are 6, as well as 9. I also really love 15 as well, another divisive entry but one I still thoroughly enjoyed.

WOW, you talking about boring parts of FF16, have you seen starfield, or back in the days The Witcher 3 ???
if they made FF16 like spider man or the last of us only 15-20 hours and removed the sidequests and "low points", it will solve most complains i heard from you !!!
i can find flaws in every 10/10 game...
i rarely play video games any more, last game i played was the Witcher 3 back in 2015 and i stopped at the point where you need to keep the sleepy dwarf awake every 10 sec...
i can't wait for the PC ver of FFXVI to play it..

Those are 10/10 games though so they make up for it in other areas. 16 however, is no 10/10 game and will never be in the same conversations seriously as most of the games you listed.

@@kaliskonigyou didnt refute anything though. Throwing around 10/10 without any actual examples of what make a game a 10/10 is like screaming loudly for no reason ...
      You aren't actually doing/proving anything

I think the negatives you say about the game prevent it from being a masterpiece. Can’t call it a masterpiece if you couldn’t even finish the side quest.

Fully agree. Biggest issue with 16 is that no matter what bubble you try to put it in, it doesn't do anything extremely well. 16 should have committed to either being an action game or an RPG. Instead it halfassed itself across the board. As a Final Fantasy, it neglects a lot of concepts and mainstays and personality the series brings.
As an Action RPG it lacks depth. You can approach every battle and enemy with more or less the exact same strategy as the next meaning there is no real reason to explore combos and combinations of your skills.
As an RPG in general it doesnt really have anything that isnt surface level. Armor and weapons dont really do much, leveling is just there as a false sense of progression. Skill points are the star here not actual character leveling. The side quests are some of the worst I've experienced in modern big budget RPG's, the characters are okay but the overall story is indeed only enjoyable in its most epic moments.

Desigree on the lack of depth. Have you play final fantasy mode and ultimania ? Really it's like dmc I don't know how it's lack depth

@@theflashgordon193 If you have to go through a 60 hour game once to unlock a new game plus before it suddenly is no longer brain dead, that's just bad game design.

@@kaliskonig not really it's design like DMC with challenge and replayability in mind. The game have some depth, and let you the time to understand all of your ability and experiment some combo while letting you enjoying the story for your first playthrough. The higher difficulty involved a lot of die and retry and labing to understand other aspect of the gameplay
