- Every day, people all over the world post videos of themselves doing everything from slurp-ily eating Ramen, to crinkling paper, to playing Minecraft while whispering about the world that they’re exploring. In 2022 alone, videos related to ASMR received over 90 BILLION views on CZcams.
In this episode, MatPat searches for answers to all of his burning ASMR questions. Like, can he find the first ever ASMR video? What is actually happening in the brain when people experience ASMR? And can he finally feel the brain tingles?

Matt and Stephanie recently sold their company. They are still CEOs and own parts, but this company handles the business and behind the scenes stuff more so that way Matt, Stephanie, and the rest of the team can do more stuff like this.
He doesn't do any of the work besides talking. All of his channels are just scripts written by other people.
I'm so happy to see Maria get recognized for her ASMR! She's been in the craft for SO long, even before the huge ASMR craze. I'm so happy for her. ❤

@@chendaforest yes, she was “hired” to work in the US. When she arrived here, the company she was supposed to work for never picked her up. 2 random men offered her a job and a place to stay. She became a maid and slept in a place with over 10 other Russian women and she had to sleep on the floor. They didn’t even have food.
She has a my life story like this on her channel, it’s pretty old but still there! 🙏 I hope the other Russian girls made it… 😞❤️
Whisper Crystal is THE pioneer in ASMR back when we called it relaxation hypnosis. From way back in 2006.

ASMR day is April 9th of every year since 2012. Easter is not always April 9th. It is actually very rarely on April 9. It's a coincidence.

ASMR definitely does give me tingles, but they can go from relaxing (especially when they come from female whispers, including indeed those of Maria and Emma) to straight up unbearable (chewing/crunching sounds).

@Mattpat it feels like a buzzing or tingling down the back of your neck and down your spine and an overall sense of relaxation and almost euphoria.
Massageclips started in May 2007. We intended to put up massage videos for instruction purposes, but what happened next was quite amazing. The majority of comments centered around Lita's voice and the subtle sounds that were recorded as a result of her giving the massage. The concept of ASMR had not yet been introduced, but we were accidentally at the forefront of what is now the ASMR community. Massageclips grew rapidly based on the relaxing and tlngly effects of this.
Accidental ASMR is a channel as well, or something like that. They pull clips from all over that weren't necessarily intended to be ASMR but definitely trigger it.

Nice that you can click on a video and make an attempt at experiencing ASMR. The best ASMR happens when you aren't expecting it, or looking for it, but this can be entertaining and useful at times for some people.

Does anyone remember who the first ASMR'tist was that gave them tingles? For me it was Ppomo ASMR doing whispered Japanese trigger words. Someone in her comments suggested we close our eyes and imagine she's behind us, and suddenly, it was like someone was sweeping a feather up and down my spine. It was borderline overwhelming. Have you ever held the corner of a sheet of paper next to the outer corner of one of your eyes, and felt an intense tingling sensation on that side of your face? Imagine that all over your spine and brain stem. That's the tingles.
For me it was Brittany ASMR tongue clicking, ear cupping and whispering ear to ear. Closed my eyes and it was like she was all around my head. Still get tingles going back to those same videos.

Why is CZcams not celebrating Easter but instead "ASMR" Day?
Because atheists ha te Christianity above all else.
Because arbitrary dates can hold significance in not than one way plus (as was pointed out in another comment) ASMR Day is on April 9th every year. Easter doesn't always, in fact, it is rare when Easter IS on April 9th.
But that's just a theory, An ASMR THEORY !
I'm thinking about making a separate channel for ASMR now.
