Was 14 years old when this came out. Had the old catalogues from my older brother of the BSB and the SES. This is why this set was never appealing to me. That old-school vibe was just way better. Only up to the recent years has Lego managed to invovle to the point (just thinking of Barracuda Bay) where I can say that the 90s sets are not straightforwardly better.
ya new design teams 20 years after Black Sea Barracuda and other 90s sets and perhaps new objectives. But this set now sells for less than 1/2 price of older sets so may be a good start of a pirate collection. I agree with Xavier though that Fort Elerdado was a work of perfection

Dont forget the beauty, Eldorado Fortress. The colours of that rock Fortress is amazing imo
