- Time to change the diesel filter on the S-Max. Straight forward job, but if you are not comfortable doing it, I suggest maybe leaving it to a mechanic

Мужик ты КРАСАВЧИК, так просто и понятно ещё никто не показывал👍
Thank you😁
Thanks for the video mate it helped me a lot. I tried this without the bleed too as I have with every other car I’ve had lol. I virtually flattened the battery and still didn’t start. I got up t 4:30am as it meant I had to walk to work and then remembered I had a large syringe in the shed. I got it out and tried bleeding , it took ages but I succeeded and didn’t have to walk to work 😀😀😀
@dash coxon your welcome, hope it helped a small bit. After that, the satisfaction of getting it going most be good, and great not having to walk to work😁
Done this job twice now and im so glad I had a hand pump for priming the fuel again with the return pipe. I went to start it up it ran good for a few seconds then lost all the fuel.. so needed priming which I shouldve done in the first place.
Definitely need the pump for this job💪🏻
Thank you
Thanks for the video. 👍🏼
Thank you very much👍🏻👍🏻
good thanks
Thank you 👍🏻
Thanks
Thanx
How do you remove the fuel return pipe, I can't unclip the red connector
Hi Sir Can You write the bane and type of the pump You did use.? Thanks
It’s a sealy fluid extractor. There is an Amazon link in the description and different sizes to choose from😊.
Thanks. What part of Ireland are you from? I just bought an S-Max, am planning on giving it a full service as well as this fuel filter and I'm changing the brake fluid and coolant. Any other things I should change while I'm at it?
The knee airbag in mine is busted so unfortunately I have to change that but at least it's only 50 odd quid.
Only seen message now. I’m from Longford. I’m a bit late on answering your question. I’d say you have your car done by now? 😂
@@KC-RallyPlanes Haha have most of it done. Last thing to do is change the gear oil and car should be good for another 5 years at least hopefully. I had to fill and paint the passenger wing and alloys as well so that took a bit of time
Begod, it’ll be a new car😂
@@KC-RallyPlanes haha hopefully, that's the idea. The missus wanted one of those new electric volvo 7 seaters but I said feck that buy a cheap car and make it brand new instead. Fingers crossed it lasts now. Thanks for the videos, they were very helpful
What kind of priming tool you used?I u Mine kind of not strong enough to bleed the fuel lines. I did exactly what you have done.
Suum Pi I use a oil and fluid extractor made by Sealy
Is it stronger than normal hand priming tool?
Suum Pi oh it would be is say. Can be used for draining engine oil too
Thanks. Ive done it. It looks like my priming tool was too weak.
Will turning the ignition on and off several times prior to starting the vehicle remove the air on this car ?
No, air will be still trapped in the system. It will need to be opened. Some cars are self priming so no need to open the return, but this one is not.
So, turns out popping couple sprays of easy start in the air intake starts the engine and the air clears from the system through running, much easier as the little hand pump thing did nothing for me. Unfortunately. Know its no recommended
@@JL-fj8zj good to know there is another way but I think I’d still bleed the system
Can you tell me the size of the filter ?? Its 73 or 75 mm ? Or it doesnt matter ?
Hi, not exactly sure but if you go to your local motor factors and give them you reg, most cars nowadays are in a data base, they’ll give you the right one for your car.
What pump you use to bleed ? can you write some number of tool ?
My pump is a “Stealy Liquid Extractor”. It normally used to extract oil from the engine via the dipstick pipe but it worked good for this process.
Sealey
@@KC-RallyPlanes THX Bro :)
I’ve just replaced the in tank electric pump on my smax but it’s still not sending fuel up to the filter the clear fuel line are dry. Do I need to hand prime it or are these meant to be self priming thanks
Richard not 100% sure with your situation but these have to be hand primed. If you hand prime the lines individually, fill the filter with diesel and after that, try and prime it the way I did it. I’d say when you changed the pump, the lines were emptied.
Is there any other option other than bleeding it ? Any tricks
Sorry, I don’t. This is the only way I know how to bleed it😬
I opened the bleed valve at the top of the housing (small black wheel to the left of centre) and used a syringe to suck out a bit of air/diesel before my first attempted restart. it ran for a few seconds then died, but after a bit of cranking restarted and ran fine after that.
Nice video. Why did you not cleaned filter house? An new filter get contaminated by your hand before installing :)
he did say he wasnt a mechanic
😂👍🏻
what's the suction device that you are using?
Mine is a “Sealy fluid extractor”
