Almost Hit by Waterspout Tornado While Kayaking!! (2020)

Welcome to the Kayak Life!! My sister and I took a trip to McLoud, Oklahoma, to Kayak the Wes Watkins Reservoir, and did we ever have an eventful day!! In a span of 30-seconds the weather and water went from calm and peaceful to 50 mph and waves with a small waterspout tornado dropping down on top of us and missing us by 50 feet! I learned a valuable lesson that day!!! NEVER turn off your GoPro as the weather hit so fast I was not able to catch the actual waterspout on camera....I was busy trying to get to my sister who was about to flip over. I barely got my sister to shore when it happened and she is a novice kayaker, so there was no way we could get her across the lake to safety in those conditions. Took three hours for a window in the weather to appear before we could get back across the lake to the RV. For a minute, I thought we would have to spend the night in the trees under our kayaks while we waited the storm out! But, that's the Kayak Life....

We definitely remember that one, she was pretty scared for a while but after a while we resigned ourselves to just having to wait it out no matter how long!
