Backcountry Skiing In the Maine Mountains

- Chris and Chris winter camp on the side of a mountain in western Maine. We endure the deep cold of a New England January to backcountry ski and make some downhill turns in a remote drainage that fills with snow every winter. We met up with our friends Zach, Andy and Stu. This is a mostly accurate description of backcountry skiing in Maine.
Right up the gut is usually an easier ascent than the trail around that ladder.
