    I'm a putty guy myself. But putty actually degrades plastic. It even says it on the tub. And most faucets will have a tiny note attached saying to use silicone on the tailpiece, if it's plastic.

      you can use stain free plumbers putty on stone and acrylic. it comes in the same plastic container and is sold everywhere the oil based stuff is sold. it's called stain free or oil free and that's the stuff you want for all your natural stone and plastic/acrylic sink tub and shower basins.

    The putty and dope used in this were not needed. Those pop up assemblies rely on the rubber washer on the bottom for sealing purposes. Because of the overflow on a lav sink the pop ups have openings under the top ring to allow water that has entered the overflow to drain. Basically all you have done is shorten the life of that new pop up and made it more difficult for the next guy. Good work doc.

    Quick question. Where can I get a faucet fixture for an older walk-in tub? The valve stems are 7 inches apart. It's an outlaw size and I've been to every hardware store, big and small, and every plumbing supply in my area and they have NOTHING that fits. The only one I saw awhile ago was on eBay but none since. Missed that one.
    I believe this type of fixture is called a "deck mount" type. Can't even tell you what brand tub it is as there are no identifying markings on it.
    Any suggestions?

    If the shut off valves are failed, which you don't know until after you disconnect the water lines, what's your immediate course of action? You can't reconnect the water lines- my guess if you'd shutoff the house then replace the valve, turn the house back on to check for success, then proceed?

    • @magenlin
      @magenlin Před rokem

      Bro you kill the valves and turn on the sink and make sure no more water comes out and let the pressure off before you disconnect anything. Then if it the old style valves(not 1/4 turn) you can usually loosen the packing and and that will let you turn the valve some more. If they are quarter turn and say someone turned them the wrong way then maybe you can find a sweet spot. But if not kill the house and change them out 😢

    The maintenance (🙄) man at my apt changed out my bathroom faucet. But I told him there was a hole in faucet behind it and it was leaking all over the sides. So, he's tells me it is supposed to do that. I said no. I suggested to caulk around the sink. So dig this... He gets the caulking gun puts some on his finger and smears it ALL over the faucet. I took pictures of it and sent it to the manager. And ask if this was professional? Anyway they went out and bought me a new one like the one you have. My question is before he put the faucet on was he supposed to put some kind of rubber seal on the sink and then put the faucet on top.? Because water is still accumulating around the sides I'm sorry this is long but this guy acts like he hates his job, calls mold dirt, and told me that the reason why there was black(mold) around the air vents was because the " inside of the AC was black. The filter was black 😂😂😂😂 anyway I hate to be a Karen but now he's telling me that the black stuff that's on the AC vents is dirt🙄I'm sending more pictures and to manager. I guess he thinks I'm just some dumb hick 🌷🇨🇱🇺🇲 well... I'm not! Thanks
