I have close doors, boot of hyundai venue. As an owner of altroz, I can attest that I exert relatively less energy from the arms when closing or opening doors of venue compare to my lower segment car. The sturdy build, the robustness, the thick metal sheet are just no match to Tata. Gurantee that same is the case of exter compare to punch.
I agree that Tata has good built quality. I think this is a good comeback from Hyundai and they will definitely punch a hole in Tatas sale 😅

KEY TAKEAWAYS:-
1. Hyundai has launched a new sub-4 meter SUV called the Hyundai Exter. It's powered by a 1.2L 4-cylinder petrol engine with 83hp and 114Nm torque, mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. Paddle shifters are offered.
2. The Exter is quite peppy to drive, with good mid and top-end power. It's not as peppy as Maruti's 1.2L K-series engine though.
3. Ride and handling are decent but not benchmark like the Tata Punch or Citroen C3. The Exter could benefit from wider tires.

Three things that i observed
1. We already have a term for it - a Crossover Hatch!!! 🤣🤣 please don't dilute the term SUV by using it for every single hatch with a higher stance that has Suv like body cladding and moderately better ground clearance.
2. I think from the DRL's side part on the front fender to the end of the hood - this Damn thing looks very much like the Mahindra KUV 100. Unfortunately, Mahindra couldn't encash the kuv100 formula; I hope Hyundai does. Tata's Punch was not the first crossover hatch / micro suv, it was Mahindra who started it with kuv100.
3. Lastly, this sub-4meter, Rs.10L category of Crossover had great vehicles like Nexon, Ecosport, and WRV. But, thanks to the ever-increasing prices and taxes, these vehicle prices went up and are now in the 15 to 18L category.
Lastly, as always you guys do a great job of presenting a vehicle in a very interesting way that makes us stick till the very end of the video!! Cyrus - love your energy sir!

The introductory prices were a little lower & i didn't pay much heed as to why they were going to increase the prices of Exter later on.
Seems like they already planned for the Bharat NCAP in advance.
Punch looks more muscular than exter and has proved itself to be pretty decent with mild offroading , thanks to its amazing suspension & high ground clearance.
Also let's not forget the safety that comes with a Tata.
Sunroof & dash cams are a great addition but not something which will influence fence sitters.

Exter was intended as Punch competitor but turned out to be the Wagon R competitor. Its a tall boy brother of i10 Nios that will end up cannibalising it.

After visiting showroom and seeing the car, can't help but noticed that proportion of Exter car is much like of Renault Triber. The wide is quite narrow for the given length of car and that somehow spoil the taste of SUV's design language. Great review though.

Wrong. Micro suv concept was introduced by maruti with ignis.
On the safety point. Hyundai doesn't put in that much work in the chassi of the vehicle, which is a crucial part for safety and handelling.

No. Because Global NCAP is optional. It isn’t mandatory. And it’s always better for a country to have its own standards and testing that is available to everyone. Will also be quicker in terms of turnaround times

i10 and base i20 sales will take a hit from this launch. Tata might not feel the 'punch' from this launch as this segment in the near future will break 30k units per month.
Few elements look good but overall looks do not seem proportionate. Punch and C3 still looks better. So only selling point is engine and features.

I don't see this coming to Europe, but I can see it coming here to North America (IIHS) and Australia. I was shocked to see Hyundai pulled the trigger to sale the Venue in North America and Australia.

This looks much more refined and premiumish than punch.
Actually the first vehicle in this micro Suv segment is the Ignis but was made popular by the Spresso and now the Punch.
On this vehicle though, it suits the sub 4m suv segment well, it gives millenials the feeling they are getting alot for thier money by plastering it with tech features you would find in bigger SUV's. But because of its size its about as practical as taking a Ferrari to buy a months worth of grocery shopping. Again though the target market is a single person or a young couple, once you put a child in the mix the car makes no senseas that trunk space is rediculous and the seats dont split fold. But it will sell because the Creta is way too expensive now and even more expensive when its ridiculous facelift comes out.
