People need to understand that the SANDF does more than perform military duties, humanitarian aid is a huge part of the SANDFs role. Increase the Defense Budget to 2% of the GDP! We are short of budget - the SANDF simply does not get sufficient to keep all elements going at the desired standard. I would bet any money that it much worse now after Covid-19. The SANDF budgets would have been "stripped bare" to fund other issues. So, as has been steadily happening since the mid/latter 90's the SANDF has had to continually make do with less.
If you are making enquiries here then forget it you simply won't make it. Get off your butt and do your own research, be resourceful, be determined to get the necessary info. Those are a couple of the qualities needed for spec forces. If you have many of the required traits mentally emotionally and physically the maybe (a 20% may be) you'll qualify

SADF was at war with any country and any armed forces which was against apartheid, and only served the political interests of apartheid which was to brutally oppress Native Africans and other non-European races. SAPS hasn't guarded the border for 6 or 7 years now. The SANDF is tasked with that SAPS are "added" to their patrols to give the SANDF legal standing. Bear in mind it is peacetime and the SANDF may not operate within our borders without SAPS. In the customs points SAPS is fully "in control"

The SANDF are recruiting less and less people because of budgetary constraints, Government keeps on cutting the military budget.

I truly believe that the SANDF could do so much more in addressing crime and border security.
There is not sufficient budget. The SANDF operate with less than 50% of the manpower needed for our border security
