In 1857 the Meskwaki people purchased eighty acres of land in Tama County. Now, with more than eight thousand acres in their possession, the Sac and Fox Tribe of the Mississippi in Iowa gathers each year at the original Meskwaki Settlement to celebrate customs passed down through the generations.

When I get time I always try to spend some time at the Resort and take walks along the Iowa River and the Meskwaki Bison Ranch. I really appreciate that they allow me to do that.

They used to come to the Memorial Union in Ames in the 1970s and do this when I was a little girl! I just remembered and found this video when doing a search. I can't wait to see them again!! Hopefully later this year!
