HotD has pretty atrocious casting in general, they did a pretty good job with the Targayans. Making them łook inbred is nice attention to detail, considering their incestuous bloodline.

I always wonder why folks say his ambition was to sit on the Iron Throne, I didn’t get that vibe from him in the book.
I only watched the show, and I also did not get that impression from him at all. More like, he was very proud of his history, and he wanted the Throne, and the person sitting on the Throne, to be strong. But he seemed intensely loyal to hid brother, in his own way.
Does Daemon survive in the end, if not. Who survives?

Two completely different personalities and both are my favorite characters. Jon is moody cause he is a typical teen and has that chip on his shoulder that most “b*******” have. Daemon is moody cause he is constantly fed up with the court intrigue. He is a “let’s get straight too the point” kind of guy.

My favourite Targaryen is Brynden Rivers, aka Bloodraven - he *fascinates* me...
He has the best elements of all the characters. He has some Daemon in him, he has some Jon Snow in him, some Jaime Lannister, some Little Finger, some Tywin, etc...

No- he wasn't a Blackfyre {in fact, he'd be mortified to be called so- he was loyal to his royal half-brother, Daeron II} - the Blackfyres *are* Targaryen in origin, but descend from Daemon I Blackfyre, Aegon IV's bastard, by his cousin Princess Daena. Brynden & Aegor were both 'Rivers', because that is the bastard-name of a child from the Riverlands- but they had different mothers. Daemon was originally named Daemon Waters before his father claimed* him, & when Aegon then legitimised all his bastards on his death-bed, Daemon took the name Blackfyre- from the sword he was gifted, essentially creating a cadet branch (like Karstarks, descended from Karlon Stark, who was granted his own seat - the multiple House Flints are said to descend from the Mountain Clan Flints - the Lannisport Lannisters, Lannys, Lantells- they are all junior & subordinate to the Casterly Rock Lannisters - the Darklyn kin, the Darkes, Dargoods etc.).
Legitimisation wouldn't have meant anything dramatic to the multitudes of common-born bastards, like Merry Meg's daughters- but it had history-changing impact for those of noble-blood: it put them in the line of succession^ - the Great Bastards^^, or their descendants could lay claim to the throne (especially when you've got one of Westeros' shittiest kings, who despises his own brother & son- for the crimes of being popular, handsome- & not wanting the realm to go to war again - & him being so stupid as to spread rumours questioning his child's legitimacy, & his pious sister-wife's virtue- & his brother's honour- it led to decades of rebellion).

In comparison to other bastards, Jon had it pretty good
^Cat encouraged Robb to look to the Vale for an heir, as Jocelyn Stark, Ned's great-aunt Jocelyn had married a Royce; their 3 daughters married into Houses Waynwood, Corbray, & Templeton - this was to push him away from legitimising Jon; without it, a bastard has no claim to anything of their parent/ legitimate sibling (Ned's acknowledgement & Robb's legitimisation risk the position of Cat's children; while it might seem obvious for bastards to come after *all* legitimate children- no matter how young, including daughters- there can be complicated circumstances... none of which D&D could bother to address)
^^ They're actually quite a small group in origin; Daemon - Aegor~ - Brynden (his two sisters, Mya & Gwenys) - Shiera (Falena Stokeworth's daughter Jeyne Lothston was never acknowledged, but she was rumoured to possibly be the king's) - Bellegere Otherys- the first Black Pearl, the child of a Braavosi merchant lord's daughter by an envoy from the Summer Isles; while he had claimed the 3 children she produced over their decade-long relationship- Bellenora, Narha, & Balerion- the son, in particular is believed to be 'of doubtful paternity'- due to the fact that the Black Pearl was also a ship's captain, & was said to have 'a husband in every port' - the descendants of her eldest daughter live into the present GoT timeline; Arya sees her in Braavos.
~Daemon & Aegor intertwine through not only loyalty between the two half-brothers, but also Aegor's marriage to Daemon's eldest & only named daughter, Calla- his half-niece; while the male-line of Blackfyres definitively dies out with Maelys the Monstrous, the implication is that female-descendant Blackfyres may still exist (possibly in the form of Varys, the late Serra- 2nd wife of Illyrio, & fAegon- whose path to the throne is being manipulated by claiming a closer Targaryen parentage- & potential marriage to Dany)

She is stupid af, she could have ended the war when she and her dragon had every green faction member in front of her but she decided to do nothing. That happens in Naruto not in Game of thrones. If you have the chance to kill your enemies and grab the power for your house, you do It.

He's such a dark and mysterious character and his quick fire temper makes unpredictable but he's also somehow level headed, cunning and mischievous. He's a fascinating character.

Daemon doesn’t pretend to be anything he isn’t and he’s a real one (literally) for that. Everyone in the GOT/ASOIAF world pretends to be this good or bad guy when most of them operate within the gray area but Daemon is the only one who’s actually aware of that.

Hes a neat combination of Robert d'Artois and Charles de Valois. His roguish nature and adventurism and personality clearly from Robert, while just like Charles he was the son, brother, and father of kings, but never a king himself. As Robert d'Artois was Maurice Droun's favorite character, this makes sense. George RR Martin has never been shy about how much Droun influenced his writings, if not his schedule.
