OMC must have demanded they make the statement that this is a basic V4 Rude. Im Merc to the end but grew up with these old motors and the Stingers and V4s weren't bad motors but the old Merc inline 4 was smooth as silk and a better motor just had limitations as far as in line cross flows go. 130 is still about tops with single outboards today.
this same boat hit well over 150mph sadly Wallin was killed. then the V8 Evinrude did almost 200 in testing but hit a duck during the trial runs, averaging "only" 178mph while running super rich on official time!
