Summer, 2005. US and coalition forces were battling through the 4th year of Operation Enduring Freedom. While few envisioned an end to the overall mission in Afghanistan any time soon, there was some hope in the form of the impending parliamentary elections scheduled for September of that year that rather remarkably for Afghanistan would include female candidates.
However, the various anti-coalition militias that had sprung up comprising of members of the Taliban, the Al-Qaeda terrorist network and various other factions opposed to western influence in their country were determined to stop the elections which they saw as ungodly. Recognising this, coalition forces in Afghanistan took proactive steps to clamp down on some of the most radical factions and their leaders in the months building up to September.
This would lead to one of the deadliest days in the history of the United States special forces where a force ultimately comprising twenty men would be wiped out save for one. A sole survivor. Welcome to Wars of the World.

So you need to understand the difference between "Special Forces" and Special Operations Forces. There is only ONE original "US Special Forces" and that is the US Army's Special Forces branch. They are The Green Berets, and they wear a tab on their uniforms that says; "Special Forces". They are absolute multi-lingual, unconventional, bad a$$es. Enough said.
The SEALs (with all due respect) are NOT Special Forces. They are Naval Special Warfare, Naval Special Operators, and are a part of the US Special Operations Group (SOG). They are Frogmen, UDTs, and are very much bad a$$. There is a difference, and if you're going to put out a video like this and make money off it; you need to get your info right.
You do ALL these men a disservice and disrespect when you put out false, or incorrect information like this. I hope you correct this and dont make this mistake in the future.

As a retired US Army Special Forces soldier (Green Beret), I can tell you that your video starts with a glaring error, describing Navy SEALs as "Special Forces". This is wrong. Only US Army Special Forces, aka Green Berets, are actually called Special Forces. All others are known generally as Special Operations Forces (SOF). As for the Red Wings mission, it was doomed to fail because was ill-conceived and poorly planned. Because the team didn't have good intelligence about the terrain or enemy strength, they were bound to be compromised and far outnumbered. LT Murphy couldn't call for help because the location they had chosen; the mountain they were on blocked line-of-site communications signals. This was a stunning and fundamental oversight in basic mission planning. In the SOF community, SEALs are notorious for their lack of detailed mission planning, to include planning for contingencies when things inevitably go wrong. I've seen this firsthand.

It's only really Americans that use 'Special Operations' and then get all pedantic when SEALs and other groups get called Special Forces. They're special forces guys. "But hurr durr actually only our Green Berets are spec-" yeah well rest of the world doesn't care we're still going to call them special forces. Americans have even started giving the special operations umbrella header to many non-SF units in other countries like the Royal Marines in the UK.

Most guys that are in combat arms roles of any kind wouldn't give a fu*k that someone on CZcams or anyone for that matter missed a technicality of such insignificance. They did not have this radio and what they had was not officially approved for use on satellites. Backup on this snafu would of been HF in the form of a very lightweight HF radio set. Weird in the movie, they covered up the lack of the PSC-5 by having a PSC-5 with special red nomenclature printed face plate that there never was to make it stand out. Even with zero gear just walking up there will damn near kill a normal person you’re literally sucking wind just standing then add gear and the fact that you never get to the top of the mountain literally take 12 to -5 hours to actually walk to the top because of all the false summits. Should they have planned better ? Sure ? Should they have gotten coms before they let those goat hearders go ? Yes they should have waited until the birds showed up. I forget the name but I’ll try to find it it’s a book just about that region and why everyone up there hated us since 2002 random accidental killings at first hear and there and those people never forgave and which correlated to my deployment because it took years for them to masses the weapons and men so in 2007 fighting season started we had to deal with it chosen company 2007 2008 we are the most decorated company of the war two plts because 3rd was detached so like 60 people ish. 130 Purple Hearts I got shot 9 times the last time took me out of the fight and retired. It was a bad day bc a Navy command decision to refuse helo support (160TH SOAR) to Marines unless SEALs were involved. With poor contingency planning and little more than hopes for luck the SEALs went in by air Instead of foot. Not real stealthy.
They got compromised and annihilated by a Taliban crew.
The lone survivor survived by running away. Then the QRF was dispatched by helo despite knowledge that SAM-7s were known to be deployed in the area. They were shot out of the sky.

Ive seen so much cope & revisionism about this operation and Afghanistan in general from Americans, they lose a war and still just think they kicked ass and won every engagement when in reality they LOST militarily. many times and overall it was a military defeat that would go on until it was a political defeat and the US would leabe but we lost militarily all the way back in 2010 the Pentagon knew the war was unwinnable.
So much about this operation is a great example for the mistakes we made & the failures thats happened. for example this guy they were going after was some low level guy, not the 'right hand to Osama bin Laden' like they tried to claim at some points....Also it was originally a mission for the marines that was organized correctly with fire support., overwatch etc but then it got switched to a NAVY SEAL operation without fire support OR overwatch...they really just threw 4 guys onto a mountain with a radio that nobody understands why they took instead of a better working radio that they knew would have been better suited for the region(this would make it so that there is no command and control during most of the operation, leading to complete chaos and units having no idea what their mission or orders are. According a great book on the TRUTH about this tragic failure, written by Ed Darack, there was a complete breakdown of C3 command and control, leading to such actions like entire chinooks full of special forces being sent without apache cover into RPG laden valleys

Fact is they were pretty fucked and couldn't do much at all, wasn't their fault, just how it was there's no magical extension that implies they were all shit, inadequate or terrible human beings, they were still good people, but their circumstances were just irrevocably fucked. I must say i love all these comedians who knows how this ”really” happened. Everything from the ”fact” that it was only the 7 talibans you can see in their video, who was chasing the seals. Like a guy like Shah would only surround himself with 7 warriors and of course only would send 7 warriors, all walking together to search a whole mountain after at team of at least 4 navy seals. The goat hearders couldn't be shure it was only 4 of them. And the Rangers would of course done it completely differently and dragged at4's with them on a reconnaissance mission over a mountain top like that, when all the gears weight would be distributed among 4 operators. When they probably not even considered a glm. And you think half Afghanistan would have heard the helicopters drop off the seal team, but from that point it took the seal team about 4 hours to walk the rest of the way to get to a point where they could watch the village from a safe distance. And you cant understand how in the world Marcus could be unharmed in the pictures taken on him and Gulab when he suffered from a ”broken noose”. Like anyone would have taken the time to arrange a foto shoot BEFORE they flew out a soldier with a bunch of bullet holes in his body, or could the pictures by any chance have been taken later when he was healed up? 🤔 Suddenly you understand why some shoes are sold with velcro instead of shoelaces. 😵‍💫

plenty of good research done on this story which was taken by the Navy and used as a propoganda tool to glorify the seals .

Poor babies. The SEALS became the cheerleaders in Afganistan as it was landlocked. But everyone wanted a piece of the pie. So they gave them some action and got their butts kicked by goat herders using obsolete weapons, with no air support.
I wonder how they would fare against real soldiers, like Russians?

Does any one else think Marcus ran away after seeing people on his team dead maybe and just started to run away. In the actual footage from the towel headband you here Murphy clear as day say Marcus come back help we need help help us. Come back Marcus help now add the fact he had all of his ammo 13 clips completely full makes you wonder then the fact the guy that rescued him calling him out on almost every thing one thing saying when finding him the taliban was aboutb7-9 killed north east from there position. Around Murphy body which wasn’t on a cliff it was in a open area where he ran to and eventually died not directly after making a call for help on the phone bytv15 minutes later. But Marcus said her was calling for him emeritalyvafter the call the 10 seconds later he dies no make no sense
