Habanero Hot Sauce | How to Make Easy and Delicious Homemade Hot Sauce

- Habanero peppers are some of my favorite peppers to make homemade hot sauce with. The Habanero pepper carries a very unique citrus and fruit flavor that really stands out when you add them with a few simple ingredients and turn it all into a sauce. There is a good amount of heat in this hot sauce but my video covers how you can increase or decrease the spiciness level in your sauce as you make it. This recipe is great for adding a little heat and a pop of citrus and fruit flavors to white meat, fish, and beyond. Fish tacos aren't proper fish tacos without this hot sauce!
If you like tinkering, take this base sauce recipe and build upon it adding peaches, mango, pineapple or other similar tropical flavors. You'll have an amazing collection of hot sauces in no time. Let me know in the comments what you come up with because the possibilities are endless.
Thank y'all so much for watching and if you have any questions, comments, or general pepper remarks please feel free to leave a comment. I'm always happy to help or hear your two cents.

I came across this channel by mistake and wish I didn't. HUGE LET DOWN!
Nice the Relais et Châteaux logo on the tea towel .
Thanks so much!
Hope u washed ur hands really well after tossing the peppers in the oil barehanded. I’ve stupidly touched my face RIGHT after handling milder jalapeños and it felt like someone took an extremely hot clothing iron and pressed it on my face. It was that bad. Thankfully I’ve learned my lesson
Ha I’m sure I did. I grow and work with a lot of different chili peppers including the super hot varietals. Being careful with your hands is engrained in my head at this point. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
I really felt for that little left out piece of carrot
Ha my favorite comments are the people who notice the little details. Thanks for watching!

Haha thank you! I think you may be the first person to comment on that, and it'll make my sister's day lol
@@outdoorindoortexan thanks! Actually it made my day first, that you’re so considerate so even a small thing and gift makes you appreciate the giver.
We have lost this attitude in our world and most people think they’re entitled or nothing makes them happy.
Wish you guys best and lots of health!
a very well thought out and easy to watch and follow video, thank you!

That's an interesting insight on the sugar vs heat interaction. Thanks for sharing.
There’s a limit to it’s benefit but it does help. Thanks so much for watching!
Great sauce! Used it for my last harvest before the cold. Also, the tip for keeping the mash was a delicious boost for my chili!
That’s awesome to hear! Thanks so much for circling back and leaving the kind comment.
This is a great recipe. I love that your using a old faithful Kitchen-Aid blender. I don't work for them but I always sing their praises over that other way more expensive throw away competition.
Thanks Theresa! That blender has been put through its paces and keeps on ticking.
Thank you so much for posting this. I used your recipe and mine came out absolutely delicious.
Thanks for watching! I’m so happy to hear you liked it.
I've tried a lot of hot sauces from the Caribbean over the years and man are they flavorful. There's so much variety. Some are made with a variety of tropical fruits such as, papayas, mangos, pineapples among others. Great recipe and tutorial!
Thanks for watching and leaving the kind comment! I’ve got a few other recipes on the channel that use fruit like green apple, kiwi, and strawberry. Make sure to check them out!

Thanks so much for following along! So far I’ve got something like 15 videos using chili peppers, maybe 8 are hot sauces, so make sure to check the channel for whats already up. I love all things peppers, so I promise I’ll definitely keep tinkering in the kitchen and sharing new recipes. (In between my wild game and BBQ interests as well.)
Having a severe addiction to peppers and all things hot and having just found your channel I would love to see more sauces please. Love dehydrating part of each new worthy creation to turn into powder and use on garlic bread, or on smoked and BBQed meats and Brussel sprouts! Great channel. Thank you.
Thanks for following along! I’m always playing around with new sauces, so I can assure you there’s more to come.
Great recipe, I have never tried making my own hot sauce before, thank you for a detailed explanation, and suggestion on dehydrating pulp for a spicy seasoning!
Thanks so much for watching! This is a really great building block hot sauce recipe that requires not too many ingredients but has a fantastic overall finished palette. I'd love to hear how yours turns out if you get around to making one! Also, that pepper mash is amazing dehydrated and mixed with a touch of salt. It's a great pop of color when plating too.
Beautiful!
Thank you!
I just made a batch. Mmmm, soooo good!
Thank you!
Thanks for watching and happy to help! Let me know if you play around with the recipe at all.

Glad to see the carrot in there. Great for texture and really jibes with that "zesty" fruit flavour of the Jabenero

Good tips, good video. I love making my own sauces, I gotta look into those bottles from Amazon.

Thanks so much for the kind words! Please let me know how you like it if you get around to trying my recipe.
I'll be trying this one next season. I've been making my own smoked habanero sauce for years. This should be a easy recipe.
Thanks, John! Sounds like you’re probably leaps and bounds ahead of this sauce but it might be a fun change of pace to try out. Let me know what you think and thanks again.
Love it brother!
Saved to my recipes playlist and will try it when my habaneros are ready!
Left a like for you👍
Thanks so much! Let me know how it turns out! I’m doing the same waiting game on my peppers plants too lol
Looks nice, very beutiful color.
Thanks so much, Andreas!
Very cool, thanks for the recipe. I'll give it a shot this week and I think I'll try Jays' pineapple. Cheers!
Pineapple will be a great touch. Thanks for watching!
I appreciate the explanation of adding sugar. I will definitely make this once we get our habaneros in season up here in the north
Thanks for watching, Mike! I should probably add Habaneros are still hot, no matter how much sugar you add, but let me know what you think!
Just made this yesterday. Fantastic sauce. 👍🏼
Thanks, Jason! Made my day.
Loved this video, easy to follow recipe! New and subscribed viewer
Thanks so much! Make sure to check the channel out for quite a few more hot sauce walk throughs and more.
Perfect video! Basically the same method i use to make my habanero sauce but i will try baking chillies instead of frying and i will try carrot now. Thankyou!!!
Thanks for checking it out! If you have access to it, try grilling your peppers to add some smoke flavor too. Another great tweak.
Just made your recipe tonight with my bumper crop of Habs. I omitted carrots and added pineapple (cooked with the onion). Doubled the lime juice.
First time ever making hot sauce and when I tried it...after picking my self up off the floor I was in love!
Good directions man. Thanks 👍
That's awesome to hear, Blaine! Haha I liked the picking yourself off the floor part. I don't do a good job of explaining how hot this sauce can get in this video. I need to try that pineapple add in, you're the fourth or fifth person who's had great results adding it in. Thanks for circling back!
@@outdoorindoortexan hey you did say you have dried that pulp for a rub. Just spread it out and let sit. Or use oven?
There’s a video in my chili pepper playlist that goes over the whole process 👌🏽
Thanks Ash!!
Hey Ray! Good to see you back.
Thanks for sharing
And thank you for watching!
thanks for the stick/bottling technique
Sure thing! Thanks for watching!
Awesome video and hot sauce!
Thanks, Shawn!
Looks awesome ! My brother used to make habanero sauce all the time, was outstanding. Never tried making it myself, I need to give it a try for sure
It’s addictive! Tons of ways to tweak the recipe and make it your own too. Let me know if you try it out!
Outdoor Indoor Texan I will for sure !
Great vid! easy to follow!
Thanks so much, Jeff!
I just harvested a bunch of hot pepper and trying to find a recipe that I like. I love this one, especially when I dehtdrate the leftover for other use. Thank you.
Enjoy! Make sure to come back and let me know how it all turns out. I use the dehydrated mash as a great heat sprinkle over soups as well as when I make my own jerky.
Your vioce over game is on point. Great video
Ha thanks so much!
Super, thanks
Thanks back at you for watching! Make sure to check out my channel for many more hot sauce recipes.
Also thanks for including what you do with the scraps leftover. I always wonder what shows do with their scraps and byproducts. I'm glad you use it for cooking
Sure thing! I always try and find a good use for leftovers and scraps. I’m already working in the kitchen, what’s a few more steps with the scraps to get a secondary product? win/win!
@@outdoorindoortexan Awesome. I keep a bag in my freezer that I toss bits of onion, peppers etc. into. Boil it every few months and make some lovely stock out of it
Finally made the sauce. OH MY SO GOOD!!!!!. Definitely has a wonderful taste with the roasted garlic and habaneros. You definitely have to taste before putting in bottles/jars as mine was super, super hot (my hubby likes it that way) but I put a tsp of sugar in. Totally recommend this awesome hot sauce. Thank you.
Love hearing it, Marion! Enjoy!
I grow lots of variety of peppers. Using several kinds in making Salsa. I am going to try your sauces now that I found you here making them! WOW fun! I have canned Salas for many years making as much as 4 cases each season. Lots of work! I am older now and can’t lift the huge pressure canner like in my muscular days. My hubby helps me now but do not make as much. Getting ready to roll now that Romas etc. are finally ripening. We had a rainy June so things were slow to get growing in Idaho. We grew a cayenne pepper and it is huge and full. Can’t wait to see more recipes!
Claudia Hopper thanks so much for following along, Claudia! Cayennea are excellent for dried chili pepper seasoning which is another video I posted recently. Please let me know if you try any of my recipes and how it turned out for you. Stay safe.
Outdoor Indoor Texan Thank you! I will find the recipe from you! Grandkids are always wanting pepper spice on Pizza, eggs, etc.. think I will have them help me! Lots of rubber gloves for pepper cooking. Forgot one year and did not know my hands could burn so badly from peppers.
Awesome recipe. I made some. Used a different recipe but this will me my next one. By the way. I ordered the bottles with metal cap and w/b my sauces for 30 min. Looking forward to make your recipe. Thanx 👍
That’s great to hear, Marion! Hanks for watching and please let me know how it turns out. Those bottles are perfect for gifting out the sauce with the holidays coming up. 👍🏻
great video dude.... many thanks
Thanks for watching, Josh!
Very informative video. Thank you!
Happy to help, Juan. Thanks for watching!
A great video showing how to make habanero hot sauce. That being said, even if the rest of the video was bad, that ninja move with the bamboo skewer to get the sauce to go through the funnel faster is worth the price of admission.
Haha thanks, Mitch!
looks good , doing this tonight..
Great to hear! Let me know how it turns out and thanks for watching!
I followed this recipe fairly closely and was pleasantly surprised. Thank you for making a good video with out usual you tuber packing it out to last an age :)

When I get a condo soon I'm definitely growing peppers on the deck. Perhaps even indoors. Looking forward to making some sauces.
When you do feel free to swing by with any questions. I’d be happy to help with setup tips and troubleshooting. Potted pepper plants are definitely the way to go, so you can move them around and find that perfect sun ratio.
Thank you. I prefer recipés that have more ingredients than just peppers. I also happen to have fully ripe habaneros still on the plant plus carrots and onions in the fridge.😉
Kevin Rowe thanks for watching, Kevin! Hope you like it.
Nice video, you have many good tips.

Great recipe love hot pepper grows them in pot at home and is always making hot sauce but never made mine that way got to try your way.
Thanks for watching, Nora! Let me know how it turns out. Do y’all usually ferment your sauce, or how do you make it?
@@outdoorindoortexan i normally just put the fresh peppers sometimes with some bell peppers depending on how hot I want it in the blender or food processor with a little vinegar, if more mellow a little sugar nothing else and of course keep it in the fridge.
My added flavour would be garlic, turmeric, ginger , thyme escallion if I’m thinking that. I’m definitely going to try with some type of fruit next time.
Ps never had to think about preservative.
I love the turmeric and thyme idea. Will definitely have to try that for myself.
Make sure to check out the recipes on my channel if you’re thinking about fruit options. There’s always the standby mango habanero of course, but I have a strawberry kiwi one as well as a green apple one. I was really happy with both.
@@outdoorindoortexan sounds wonderful I will definitely try.
Just made a double batch a couple days ago (to make good use of my abundant habanero harvest). I’m very pleased with the results (though I did pull back a tad on the amount of vinegar). Will definitely use this recipe as a go-to in the future - - thanks very much for sharing!
I love hearing it! Thanks so much for coming back with your feedback. Vinegar is definitely up to you depending on taste. Make sure to check out my channel for a handful of other habanero recipes if you happen to have a bumper crop before winter sets in fully.
