  • Many students have the self perception that they aren't "fast players", or that their fingers or bow arm won't go fast enough. Rarely has someone actually reached their physical limitation. Watch my video (all of it) to learn a practice approach guaranteed to make those fast passages easier to play.

    This really hits the nail on the head for me. I've been playing music for 25+ years and I used to think I was just not very fast, and that was it. Now I've been learning violin for 2 years, and I can't count how many times I thought I'd hit my limit, then overcame it by practicing. Practice makes the master, as they say in german. Such a ride.

    Beth, I’ve never been able to play fast, even after intently studying the best bluegrass fiddlers. I’m surely going to try your method. For all i know, this is what they do and just aren’t talking! Thanks a bunch!

    My dad taught me to never say can't. That's just the way I was raised. I can and I will there is too much negativity in the world all ready. I can play the violin and I will! Whether .I can read music or not! And I have! I ve proven to myself that I indeed play beautiful violin. Your a wonderful teacher but please don't ever say cant!

      In my opening I say "Why you think you can't..." I need to change the title! The video is to give people tools to surpass negative thoughts.

    Hi there - I'm a very recent subscriber and not a violin player myself. However, string orchestra arrangements in instrumental music has always been my absolute favourite to listen to. I was wondering, if you (or one of your many followers) could tell me what is the technical term for what the string players are doing in this particular arrangement starting at 3:45 and ending at 4:00 in this orchestral version of Dancing Queen by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra? czcams.com/video/jsqIDPZmFi0/video.html Is this just a "run" or what do you officially call this type of string playing? Thanks so much for your time.

    • @violinlab
      @violinlab  Před 8 měsíci

      Are you sure those were the correct time codes? The piece had ended by 3:45. Thanks for subscribing!

    • @JoJoPim
      @JoJoPim Před 8 měsíci

      @@violinlab That is odd. When I view it the entire piece is 4:27 minutes long? Sorry about that, I'm not sure what video the link above is taking you to then. It is on The Best of Royal Philharmonic Orchestra Volume 1 from 2010. If you were to search "Best of Royal Philharmonic Orchestra Dancing Queen" in the CZcams search bar then it might come up for you? If that doesn't work, my apologies for wasting your time. It really was a legitimate question, though, that I have always wondered the answer to.

    • @JoJoPim
      @JoJoPim Před 7 měsíci

      @@violinlab I found out the answer. They are Arpeggios. I always thought Arpeggios were just something people practiced like Scales to improve their playing skills, and not something necessarily written into a musical score. In the orchestral piece I was referencing above, they are played very fast which I thought was apropos to ask on your lesson on playing "fast".
