    We've been getting a lot of questions recently about where we sourced the materials for our off-grid earthbag rainwater harvesting cistern build. We made this video in order to answer those questions and provide a source people can go to. If you have sources you would like to add, feel free to leave those in the comments.

    I am in the planning stages for this and have watched SO many videos! I really like the size of the bags you are using (24 x 40?) and how uniform you get them. So a few questions if you have time:
    - How full do you fill each bag?
    - How much do they weigh when full (I'm worried I won't be able to lift them if I get the wider bags)
    - How do you seal the opening on your bags? I saw one video that talked about sewing them, but that seems rather time consuming. Others used twisted wire, but it makes a bulky end that I don't see on yours.

    • @ourselfreliantlife
      @ourselfreliantlife  Před 3 lety +1

      We generally fill the bags until they are six inches from the top. It may differ if we're making shorter bags.
      If you check out more video you'll see we fill them in place. They don't need to be lifted, but they might need to be scooched.
      The first bags we'll drive a nail into. With each subsequent bag, we'll fold it and then rest it against the last bag. So it's one nail per row.

    • @Scoutdogs
      @Scoutdogs Před 3 lety +1

      Been watching your other videos and got answers to my above questions. But now have one more. I saw how you folded the ends of the bags. It looks like for some you put a nail in and others you didn't. Any pros/cons on nail use?

      You're using a one 4" inlet..
      Might be good good to have 2 overflows just in case..
      That's one reason commercial buildings have their roof drains

    They don't want plastics, but they are building and lining with plastics. I don't get it. They even sale merch that is made of plastic. ........ argh. Don't say you don't like plastics.
    Keep up the hard work.
