Hello from 10 years later! I’m starting to film things for my college’s skate club, and this entire series is the best information on the topic! Also the cleanest delivery of said information lol
Cropping out the other filmer bums me out coz if I don't see the dude responsible for the other angle I assume the skater banged it out twice. This just ruined my perception of a lot of videos.
I love seeing the dude filming fisheye in the long shot, I don't know why people always complained about that, it looks cool.
I need to see the guy filming otherwise I feel like He did it twice and it loses the spontaneous part of it I guess
please make more of these ride. they are really helpful!

heres another tip - don't film and edit your in project the night before its due , cause
things look weird at 4 am - Haha!
Editing out the other filmer, in my opinion, takes away some of the rawness and realism. Keeping the filmer there adds to what was going on.
even though I have knowledge of all these "in focus," topics, I still watch for manzoori's soothing voice.
never thought about masking out other filmers! really good idea. these are really great.

Yes you can, it's called Rotoscoping if your masking and creating moving mattes across images, you need to really be using something better than Final cut for Compositing work though, After Effects will do the job, but for the best finish you need to track the shot, and then composite and do the Rotoscoping work in Nuke, and if the motion and movment of the subject, in my case mostly skaters and people or sky replacements, yes a lot of skate films are at this level now...

I kinda like when its double angles and what camera is set to a diff WB then the other.
This stuff is so common sense but surprisingly sometimes I get stuff out of it. I dono why I never thought of masking over an object or filmer.. duh. If you guys can post trick tips everyday you should at least start post these EVERY monday instead and get all of the easy things like his out of the way so you can move on to more complicated filming :)
I use Sony Vegas Pro but before I had Vegas I just used Windows movie Maker and got pretty artsy with it. More avanced edtin definitely takes more tie on it because it was made for beginners but once you use it a few times it's pretty easy to figure out. I'd definitely recommend saving for a better program though.

A fisheye lens is absalutely mndatory when it comes to filming skateboarding and most extreme sports. The fisheye isn't used to make things look distorted, it's usesd to get closer to the action and being able to get the whole skater and the obsticals in the frame. A fshey lens is the most useful camera accessorie a sateboard cinematographer or photographer can have. Ofcourse, too much fisheye is never good.

Hey, im looking for a good dlsr camera under $1000. Im looking to take more video than pictures, but I want to do both. I am considering the Canon t3i or Canon 60d. I have heard a lot of things of how the autofocus really bad in video mode. What is your opinion? Do you have any advice? I would really aprreciate it. Thanks!

Maybe it's just me, but I prefer it when the shot hasn't been edited to remove filmers/photographers. It's not great to have them in there, but I just hate it when footage is doctored, sped up or slowed down a bit etc

You should make a tutorial on lighting spots with work lights and different lighting for filming
u never use Auto focus in video mode! never..thats all manual focus..both cameras are good if your starting out because they have those pop out lcd screens and are small and lightweight. i have the 5Dmk2 and t2i but rarely shoot video with those things but it does look pretty ha
A lot of people would disagree. It looks unprofessional to most people. When everything looks clean and there's no filmers in the video it gives you more of a cinematic feel.
