thanks for your help. as i said, i'll give it a try. i know the right shutter speed can make the motion look smoother.. it all depends what you want to do with the footy later.. slow it down, speed it up, left it in normal motion etc...

To each his own. I shoot a lot on the 5d, t2i, and 60d. I prefer the 60d over the 5d unless shooting at night, also because my lenses work best with the 60d. 30fps can look good if you shoot at the right shutter speed. A good example that would help would be Russell Houghten's tutorial on Shutter Speeds on DSLR, which is an "In Focus" episode. Just trying to help. Cheers.

If you have the correct lens when using the mk2 it is great in low light. I just shot with it last night, had ISO at 3400 and looked as if I had my ISO at 400. A lens that looks amazing for the mk2 is the Canon 17-40mm. Check it out. I shoot everything in 30p on my 5d, 60d, and 550d t2i unless I have intentions of slowing the shot down, then I'll shoot in 60fps.

Hmm yeah theirs alot of people That feel that way, I personally like the Sony Z1u, its a Hd 3ccd camcorder, so it will give a similar feel as the vx series,similar look, its also miniDV but with a sharper Image and more vibrant colors then the vx series it also wont cut off the heads.You can run pretty much any lens the vx has as well. So its got a old school and new feel to it. Thats what I would honestly buy, but I don't have the money so canon t2i is great camera for the money
A great denoiser can be found in Magic Bullet, works like a charm. ;)

if you dont need the best setup i would recommend:
Canon 550d
Canon 18-135 (DO NOT GET THE 18-55)
Rokinon 8MM (or if you like Vig (the black corners in the edge Peleng 8mm)
180LED Light (you can get them for 50 Bugs)
and maybe a Mic (Rode is pretty good but you can get a cheaper one)
Hope this helps but i would do a lot of research before buying anything...

Camcaddie or Eazy Handle (The Eazy Handle is perfect for skating and dslr)
Probably just a higher end lens, it will make it clearer and more fluent, also if your not using a very top of the line memory chip in your videos, the image quality won't be at is full potential and it will seem more choppy.

i just checked Z1u, pretty nice thing. thanks for the info. but to be honest, to use that cam in a miniDV mode would be pitty because it's mainly made for HDV. you know what I mean, it's like buying a race car and never go over 70mph... slrs are great because they offer 50-60fps which looks even more sick that 25-30i. but since they're 16:9, i don't care. =)
You can only film 60p in 720p mode on the 5d mark iii.

i own 5d mk2 because of photography, not filming. 4:3 is everything i'll ever use in filming skateboarding.

I have the light jason hernandez used to film that line and the audio techinca at875 mic, but the windscreen always casts a shadow in the light, do you know any good cold shoe brackets that might prevent it?

good tips, sucks that the colour correction and image enhanced FX's you use when editing go out the window unless rendered full hd.

i somehow doubt some of the footage is recorded with 5d mk2.. frame rate seems too fluent to be true. even for NTSC 30p. i mean what am i missing with my 5d mk2, maybe a frame blending in post process or what?

what lense does Jason Hernandez use with gh2 that setting is f4.0 125/1600 Is it possible? I use sam-yang fish eye with gh3 but when I film at night I have to set f3.5 60/1600 for getting light Im realy curious about lense

He might have just the 5d for the night clips? and yeah a thats weird it must have been a mistake, and yeah I like the t2i and I like you do have the choices, it can also film in full 1080 as well. But the way I see it if you don't like your camera maybe invest in something else? Mbye even full blown camcorder if you mainly film like the canon xh a1 or like a sony fx1000(not vx 1000)

Could anyone recommend a decent camera for around £200-£300? I was thinking of getting a GoPro, but I'm not convinced the permanent fish eye would look good for dolly shots/more cinematic shots. Thanks :)

Hmm I mean I don't know why they would say this is the 5d if it wasn't, because its not like their trying to sell it. Honestly I'm just going to get a used canon t2i soon with a nice lens and a nice fish eye, sure is two models old but that thing can put out some real high quality video and pictures (especially for the price) But anyhow I mean if your unhappy with the camera maybe you should check out the 7d I pretty sure it shoots higher than 25p.

i run miniDV man. =) i own sonyvx2100 and a century mk1 with bayoring. only thing i can stand in HD is alien workshop, emerica generally (both sd and hd), all the gravis stuff that has come out.. well i just don't like 16:9, it's just not right for skateboarding - too wide horizontal angle that has no function nor help in filming skateboarding, and too narrow vertical angle that causes cut off heads and unables you to step closer with fish (like with mk1 for example).
how do you get 60p on a 5d? there are only 30p and 24p.

Ok me and my homies want to start filming our tricks because we're getting better and better everyday but we dont want to troll people on youtube with iphone camera so would you please recomend a DSLR, Accessories, and where to get these things and prices. i really like these vids and they have inspired us to start filming. please try to recomend neccisarily we are un sponsored street skaters if that helps.
