One creature that’s developed a shocking but effective defense mechanism is none other than the electric eel, able to spontaneously generate high-voltage pulses of electricity.

I used to train my graduates by a 1000v insulation resistance tester. They come out of university all sure of themselves with their degree, formulas and copied notation, but still never understood electricity at its heart. They did when I had finished training them 😂. Always did the experiments on myself first and all participants volunteered knowing fully what was going to happen. Although maybe alarming to some, when you are in the know it’s all calculated and proved. They left my training true engineers and could understand any electrical problem posed with time to reflect on it of course. Had to run it through the HR department and HSE department first literally. Fun times but a brilliant learning tool used correctly.

I have several questions for them.
      1. Did this creature consciously make changes to its own DNA structure to cause this to be the end result?
      2. How did a creature evolve something that didn't exist prior?
      3. What evolved first, the part of the fish that actually creates the shock, or the entire support system needed?
      4. shouldn't this creature be evolving now?

We couldn't get the hooks out until they had used up all their power by us using sticks and our rods to make it discharge.

The animals' charge only radiates *outward* from its body, never inwards. This is an example of the "Faraday Cage" effect, where electrical charges will not go inside an enclosed space. A similar thing happens if you are in a car or an aircraft which gets struck by lightning - the lighting bolt will conduct itself around the *outside* of the vehicle, but it won't go inside. You can go to Wikipedia and search for "Faraday Cage" to read more about this.
