- This is a Motormouth couple car review of the 2023 Mercedes-Benz AMG G 63 G-Wagon luxury SUV.
This Mercedes-Benz AMG G 63 has a handcrafted 4L twin-turbo V8 with a 9-speed automatic transmission, 577 horsepower and 627 lb-ft of torque. It goes 0-60 in 4.5 seconds.
The Mercedes-Benz AMG G 63 is hand built and signed by its own craftsman. It gives you instant acceleration at any speed and its massive torque reaches its 627 lb-ft peak at 1300 rpm and holds it all the way to 4000 rpm. Standard AWD with a 2-speed transfer case, 4-wheel drive and three lockable differentials to help tackle different terrains and conditions.
Each differential can be locked in sequence, centre, rear, then front via a set of buttons on the dash to help maintain the ideal balance of torque and traction for the situation you are in.
This Mercedes-Benz AMG G 63 model has an AMG performance exhaust system, a high-performance braking system and an adaptive damping suspension.
The Mercedes-Benz AMG G 63 has a rugged, boxy design with AMG styling that is just so cool looking. It comes standard with 21” wheels, available 22” wheels, an AMG grille, classic round headlamps with active LED technology, stainless steel running boards, power folding side mirrors, heat and noise insulating glass and the option of chrome, gloss or matte black exterior accents and an available black roof.
The cabin of the Mercedes-Benz AMG G 63 is modern and clean with dual 12.3” screens, Nappa leather interior, available Nappa leather with diamond stitching, there’s different trim pieces including natural woods, 64-colour ambient lighting, a sunroof with heat rejecting glass, the door handles feel bank vault precise, the cabin is comfortable, spacious and there’s plenty of storage.
The Mercedes-Benz AMG G 63 starts at $242,000 CAD/$179,000 USD.
While it might look cool, don’t expect great fuel economy, it gets 19.5L/100 km, 13 MPG city and 15.5L/100 km, 16 MPG highway. It can tow 7,000 pounds.
This AMG G 63 is hand built and signed by its own craftsman. Our review of this iconic SUV drops 07/15.

It's crazy to think that more Corollas will be driven off road, than one of the most expensive, most capable, off road vehicles made.
Absolutely right.
Exactly, the ultimate poser vehicle for the one percentars 😊
Bonkers.
Corolla drivers are trying to get to their dilapidated trailers back in the woods with no running water and smelly racoons and skunks running around. They really have no choice.
@@jamespaul2587percenters.
I've had 2 of these, a 2018 AMG 63 and 2021 AMG 63. I just traded my 2021 for slightly less than what I paid for it in exchange for an AMG GLE 63s which is far more comfortable, more agile, faster and less showy. My problem with the Gwagon is that it screams LOOK AT ME! Especially if you're entering a CVS at night or similar situation. The G's do not handle particularly well either, and are uncomfortable on road trips over 2 hours. They also have very little back seat room. This aside, they are beautifully appointed and really badass. As for price, back in the days when the economy was booming - these things were selling for 100k over sticker and flying off the lots. Not you can get an AMG 63 for about 250K, but I'd double check the dealership because they tend to mark them up on a dime. A final note: if you get into an accident with one of these, you will never get a dime for when you decide to sell. Wealthy people do not want damaged goods and the dealerships know it, so be very, very careful on the road.
Honest comment, but I can tell you were probably not target clientele even though you could afford it.
Its a very capable vehicle on and off the road and is why many VIP protection companies use them for their clients. Its virtually unstoppable when the chips are down.
I love the G Class. It has a brutal/brash design. I always did feel like the rear passenger room was tight for such a large vehicle, but making the wheel base longer will affect the iconic shape of the vehicle.
This is definitely a status symbol, and most people who own one, can buy 10 of them without feeling their wealth decrease.
wannarich try to keep up wit wealthy hahahha so jokess some shitt armor car
Also the longer the wheelbase the easier you high centre. Much more capable offroad.
that last statement is entirely false lol. you cant actually assume people who own a G63 can buy 10 of them
That's not true (about owners being able to buy 10 of them). It's a huge status symbol, hence a lot of moderately rich people stretch their budgets to buy one. Most real ultra-wealthy Mercedes buyers go for the S-class or E-class wagon.
Brilliantly balanced video review. Informative, fun and sincere.
All those 18 minutes flew by unnoticeably, while just enjoying your company.
Thank you for the value added, by just being nice people :)
Glad you enjoyed it!
If I could, I would, but for now I'll keep driving my 2012 ML 350, which I still love. Thanks for the review. That matt black is sweet!
Me too.
Zac sums nicely: if you ask the price, you can’t afford it! If you care the tech, the fuel consumption and the comfort, you can’t afford it!😂
I see these all the time when i riding on the bus 🚌.
Amazing vehicle, but ouch the price point!
Awesome review Andrea and Zack
I REALLY enjoyed your review of this vehicle. I just discovered your channel, and I’m looking forward to future reviews.
Another amazing review!
Instant classic. One of the few modern vehicles that are certain to become auto museum pieces.
dumbest vehicle of all time, when I see one of these go by I think: really? you are driving a fk you to every child on earth
God bless Mohammad Reza Shah of Iran.
Thanks for awesome videos. Love from Vancouver
Yoooo.. Love this!!
In California, going “off road” takes place when your G wagon goes into the parking lot at Nordstroms…😎
Yes, and extreme off-roading when they climb the curbs 😊
@@jamespaul2587 lol…you’re talking nose bleed stuff there 😂
You think California is just LA don’t you?😂
@@kalimistakidou9103 nope, by no means…
Great review!! I find square designs so appealing. Maybe it’s my German/Scandinavian heritage, maybe it’s the artist side of me that loves cubism. Either way… love it. Can only dream lol
Maybe in retirement I can find an old beat up one haha
Nice review folks. You could add the Bronco Raptor to the consider list for $100k less. The G Wagen is definitely a great vehicle. Thanks 😎
Great review. Actually more excited for your upcoming SL63 review. I got one back in April! Couple of nitpicks that I'm not sure if you've picked up on: 1. no dedicated skip track button the steering wheel; 2. random notifications that the battery starter power is low; 3. unlike BMW, when music is playing from your phone's bluetooth connection, if you plug it in, it doesn't automatically switch to the better wired connection as you have to manually switch it; and 4. Keyless Go doesn't work like 60% of the time.
Definitely one of the favorites
It blows me that in the year of 2023 going into 2024 that this vehicle is worth damn near close to $200,000 and the SUV screen still isn’t touchscreen!!!! Even the low end entry model Benz have the same damn screen but those vehicles have touchscreen unbelievable!!!!
I just subscribed. I like your sort of "compact yet complete" review of this vehicle. Do you have a review of the Cadillac Escalade Sport Platinum and Escalade V? I searched through your videos and did not see it. Thanks for the great review.
Great video Andrea! You guys are funny. I only like the interior because of space is good. 👍🏻👍🏻☕️☕️
Thank you, really glad you enjoyed it! Fun to review that's for sure.
@@andreaspencer9813 you are an very welcome Andrea! I agree it’s looks fun to review! 👍🏻👍🏻
Sleek, elegant, classy
Yes, I agree 😉
That low vrrooom sound ahhhhhh😊
Wow!!! Absolutely Stunning.
And the g wagon wasnt bad either
Would love to see a review of the Aston DBX 707. Any plan to review it? Thanks, love your vids!
Great video as usual, guys! Thank you! Out curiosity, I saw a Brabus version of this vehicle, I guess that’s more $$ but more HP?
I’ll be short. People who don’t own these keep complaining about mbux, features, keyless entry, sound doors, price and what not. People who got and drive these, they don’t care! They don’t care about the complainers and specially not about these missing features about. Keep driving your japanese cars and be happy ok
Exactly 😂
The fact that they raised the price from $159k to $179k really explains how the buyers of these don’t care how much they cost. G-wagon owners are known to be the wealthiest Benz owners!
Actually, the wealthiest merc buyers purchase the E Wagon.
you are 2 years behind, on road its 250K
@@amirjonno they don’t 😂
@@amirjon no billionaire or Hollywood person drives that. Lies.
@@solsaadi5399 Mercedes has publicly said that their wealthiest buyers are the E-class wagon buyers. In 2nd place is the G-class.
🔥 Stunner 🔥
The ultimate bling bling vehicle.
Will never hit any trail other than pavement!
@@MrRey84972 so what . Does people who 911s or ferrari go to racetracks 😂
Not Cullinan?
Thanks.

Love this review! Lol
saw 1 drive by.... beautiful sound....
I LOVE the G63. The Gas Milage isn’t really as bad as I thought, especially since my 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the 5.7 Hemi gets 13.4 MPG city and like 16.8 MPG Highway. I wish they would update the infotainment system, and even if they add that touchpad thing on the inside of the door handle, because no matter what you do, you have to still touch back there to open the doors!
Dream car!
OMG. it is AMG my dream car. Bestregards fromIndonesia of the South east Asia.
Thanks for the review, what's that nice satin flat black colour called?
This is the best G63 review I have ever seen. I love mine. Was thinking of selling it for a Cayenne....but now I think I'll keep it. Thank-you!
Cayenne is like baby car for girls next to G class @@navdeepdhillon5622
What do you do for a living? 😮
I own various businesses. BTW....I kept the G for the winter (AMAZING in the Snow) and bought my wife a Cayenne Hybrid....it is AMAZING! Love that Cayenne!...@@mohamedribin5943
I just wish I could afford one. Luckily I do have the same steering wheel in my GLC, I guess that's as close as I'm gonna get to a G Wagon.....
Love Love love the tall boxy design with GREAT visibility, comfort, airy cabin and plenty of headroom.. Wish others (Toyota, Honda, Mazda, etc) would come out with something like this ..
I think they had it in V12 engine options for G wagons a few years ago
Something about the G Wagon! Holds a special place in my ❤️ and the Porsche Cayenne turbo GT.
That’s a good line ‘’ if you have to ask for the price.. you can’t afford it’’
Love this SUV. What is the wait time if one is ordered.
Sturdy safe and fun to drive 😊
Zack was ready to go full Hulk on Andrea’s story lol.
Beautiful jeep
my dream car😍😍😍😍
Thanks for the fun review, team! Even before Andrea got to her story, I’m thinking “I’ll bet Andrea gets a lot of attention while driving a G Wagon”. 👍
Your price quote is way low. They are over $240,000 in US not including TTL.
No I bought mine brand new for 200k
Another great video. For me here in Europe the 400d inline six turbo diesel intercooler with 330 hp and 700 Nm, 0-100 6.4 sec, and mrsp from 125.000€.
Greetings from Spain.
Have G350d 2019, and use it for upcountry tours and works, better fuel economy
I loved the G class back when people didn't bought it as status , uff now price has doubled
There are a shit load of these things near us (northern MD) and most don't think much of them. A truck that can haul a larger horse trailer is much more sought after, but these are great dailys.
Great review. The style is not my style so I'd have to lean into the Land Rover. Great review..if you have to ask the price you can't afford it. So true.
Praying the hubbs gives me this as a push gift 🤗
❤G63 AMG MY DREAM CAR SUV
Such a fantastic looking vehicle, definitely one of my favorites!
One of the best vehicle ever made
one of the issues about the design of the G is that because the windows are so straight up, you see things come up on your peripheral vision on both sides of the car but and you second guess where it's coming from because one window shows the object in the window, and the other window reflects that image from the other window.
Well, not Merc invented that but Austrian Steyr Daimler Puch AG did. Phaaaantastic report, amaaaaazingly spoken!
I can see it in Andrea´s eyes that she want´s this car so much 😁
Great video Andrea
When are you guys going to review the amazing looking Ineos Grenadier
I love ❤ that
Yes yes i have it already❤
Omg Andrea think Zack looked scared as much for the gas ⛽️ as the speed. Looks a real monster of a car but very smart interior!
Inertia or interior?
@dextersmith8434 Great proof reading!
One of your best. wish we could all have one. thanks again.
I noticed the song - Dirty Laundry by Don Henley, a very good song
That’s the sound of glaciers melting.
Definitely the only SUV I would ever love driving. Absolutely love the box-iness
I wonder, if this had a KIA badge but with the same capabilities, would it still be an object of desire? Good video btw!
Obviously not
It would also be 1/3 or 1/2 the price with modern tech and better warranty
No.
Also, it is a MAJOR flex. It will turn more heads than a range.
This i a Premier league Wagon , the football players choice i England 🙂.
Then do you do a BMW M4 cabriolet review ?
Just a tough car , bespoke presence and luxury.
The only thing I love about this vehicle it’s the sound of that V8 but it ends there.
You meant "i can t afford this ultimate car"
@@jonpetter8921 You're pretty basic if you think this boom box on wheels is an "ultimate car." Try a 911 GT3 RS, Panamera Turbo S, or any Ferrari. Heck, even a Range Rover Autobiography is superior to this.
I actually saw one of these on the Eagle Mountain 4x4 road in Coquitlam 😱.
Asian kid?
@@CNHabs I don't recall. They were with a Jeep Gladiator.
The "law of diminishing returns" applies to this vehicle . Almost identical concept to bespoken "work boots" . A top of the line "regular" hand made (but not bespoken) work boot will cost you $600.00 +/- . The same type of boot but bespoken will cost you $3,000.00 +/-. You will use the $600.00 one to work BUT NEVER put the $3,000.00 in the same condition.
I had a GLB 250 with the latest MBUX. I once said "Hey, Mercedes, tell me a joke " Thr response was "I'm sorry i can't help with that, my engineers were German."
😂😂
“people just want to be seen in it “what better reason to buy!
Crazy to me that this vehicle is a status symbol, everytime i see one, i think of a postal truck🤣...to each their own, there is something for everyone
I think you’ll find theses are still running at 25k over MSRP in the US.
It depends on what people definition of rich or wealthy is, I know a school teacher lives and work in New York City she bought a 2023 G550 in April.
The Gwagon is absolutely the ultimate urban assault vehicle 😮
Damn I wish I had money like that.. My dream car 😢
Une très belle femme avec une belle voiture ❤❤❤
Excellent review
Just beautiful. The lady too.
Very informative review. The cynicism from the Mr. Was salty tho
Would love it, but can’t afford it.
My suburban neighbor (in California) bought this exact vehicle/color for his wife to ferry the kids to private school where we hear its distinctive rumble in the cul-de-sac. They definitely are in the proper demographic, they own a private airline and a yacht in addition to their crazily upgraded house. I would bet good money it has never been driven harder than what a 15 year old Prius could easily attain much less ever been on a dirt road though.
You're the poor jealous neighbor I'm assuming? Maybe even the Nanny? Lmao
@@Equity_Group nah, I’m a millionaire as well. I just don’t need to flex with a vehicle, especially one which is expressly engineered for driving and road dynamics opposite of what I would use it for. But good try though.
@@tpolerex7282 Lmao okay bud. Enjoy sweeping those floors 🤣

@@Equity_Group buddy thinks millionaires are some magical creature or something lol, not everybody in society is dirt poor buddy.
The car perfect for a drug lord 😂
or any over-paid sports star
When you mentioned the towing capacity I thought to myself I really want to see a new lottery winner driving this down the road with an old 5th wheel camper they owned since the 80s lol.
How would a fifth wheel attach to an SUV m o r o n
How long does it take to convince yourself that these tool boxes look good, never liked these.
"The roots are at the Four Seasons Hotel." Hilarious! I love this car, everything about it, I would add the modern extras: Water bottle cooler, keyless unlock and domestic plug at the back. Also strange how you can't get a sunroof, I mean it should be perfect at these geometries. Other than that, I just light up everytime I see it.
Some conveniences, when they go in to production, are expected
The black g reminds me of the black Jaguar in the Amazon
Big in Monaco they all have the brabus version.
Excellent review! I think I finally got it! This is a car for actually rich people, (who probably have other cars anyway). Whereas if you're just a poser, there's no way you'll buy this. Hinged manual tail gate, no keyless entry, Spartan interiors. There's no bang for your buck or feel good factor here! It's just an expression of "Yeah I'm rich, and I don't need features, suck it!"
How come you never discuss in your reviews the vehicles reliability concerns
