Trading work for stuff you need is always the best deal. I need to shorten the frame on a project I just bought as well. I'll show you guys what I got this weekend. Keep up the good work bro!

Thanks dude. Some times the horse trading is all I got to keep the projects going. So I definitely don't mind. Especially when it's a cool old fella I'm doing it for. 🤘🏼 can't wait to see what you have in store dude!

Great job Dave! Good trade a little work for a motor you need heck yeah. If I could say one thing to you I wish you would put on some safety glasses I was using one of those cutting wheels one time and a very little piece of metal got in my eye did not bother me to much at first did not even know it was in there just felt funny. but a couple days later my eye got all red and felt like hot smoke was burning my eye and could bearly drive home from work. Went to the doctor and he said you got some metal in your eye he used like a dentist pick and pick it out that was not fun😟 then said you got rust in your eye So I went to the eye doctor and he used like a drill😩 to get all the rust out then I had to have a patch over my eye for a few days. It was not a very fun
    Experience just saying😁.
    Be safe brother! have a
    good one man👍

Thanks Chris! Appreciate the advice as well. I actually use some in my next video. Funny story... have had to get metal removed from each eye a week apart about 15 years ago now... both times I was using safety glasses. Ricochet under the glasses. Used two different shaped styles of glasses and in the end, my "safety squint" has served me much better. It's not a good reason to not use em I know, but for some reason it works. I do pick my times to use em. And have had grinder wheels blow up. Got a few scars to prove it! Hahaha. Thanks for looking out for me man. I do appreciate it. That frame was wicked easy to shorten and Gerry is gonna love it. Hope to deliver it to him next week

Dewalt makes some very good goggles I use sometimes they work pretty good. Yeah I have had those wheels blow apart to they don't call them death wheels for nothing lol.
See you on the next one man👍

Was the frame coated at the factory with GM's special rustproofing compound? ( Dipped in hot wax) .
My 86 4x4 was. I avoided high pressure washing of the undercarriage to avoid stripping off the wax. There's not much wax left after 36 years, but no bad rust either, even though it lived near the ocean for the first 12 years.

I'd have to say no, there was heavy rust from the trans crossmember back. Not deep, just scaly rust. I'd sure like it if it was coated. I've seen newer chevs and fords with a waxy coating on the underside. Wish they'd have done more but they don't want em to last I don't think. Lol

@@dazeofgloryshopworks5806 I just pulled my original factory build sheet to see if they charged me extra for the wax dip but it wasn't added in as a separate charge. Maybe they only dipped the 4x4 trucks?
I do recall the sales brochures back then promoting their new rust through protection treatment & warranty. They likely promoted it heavily because the S10 predecessor, the Chevy Luv rusted out fast, as did a most 70s GM vehicles especially the Vega and it really hurt the brand & sales.
-Nice job in the frame. That's a lot of work for 5".
      Or so she said.

@@Joe_Blo haha thanks man! Yeah you're spot on with the luv frames. Like the Toyota and Nissan frames as well. Rust out right before your eyes. What are you doing to your s10? May I ask.

My 87 4x4 S10 blazer didn't have it and my mom bought it new. She never used it off-road and dang sure never washed anything you can't see standing up. Lived on a gravel road till 2002 when they paved it.
Now it has Dana 60s under it with a 383 under the hood.

@@user-neo71665 I just read the 1986 S10 truck brochure. It states that they're dipped in wax as part of the corrosion protection. The Blazer may not have gotten it.
The brochure was keen to point out the 3 year corrosion perforation warranty.
Rust wasn't covered unless it ate clear through the metal.
They lost a lot of money on the Chevette because parts of it rusted away in 2 or 3 years, so they wouldn't risk that happening again. And ti be honest, only the S10s exposed to salted winter roads had corrosion issues.
