Born in Kherson, Ukraine in 1989, Sergei Polunin / Сергей Полунин is a Russian ballet dancer. Famous for his "once every hundred years" talent, he has incredulous elevation and impeccable technique. From an early age, he displayed glorious dramatic range. Home videos of him as a small boy improvising to Pavarotti are very foretelling. At age 19, he became the youngest ever male principal dancer with London's Royal Ballet company.
Ballet gained an unprecedented new awareness when he danced in Hozier's viral video "Take Me To Church." People who would never have paid any attention to ballet began to watch the tattooed phenom. He is generally attributed with bringing ballet to the modern common man. Classical, yet cutting edge, Sergei starred in Diesel's "Make Love Not Walls" campaign and has put his mark on many other promotions.
Sergei is a much sought after model and actor. Fashion designers love his breathtaking physique and brooding good looks. He has garnered only positive reviews for his acting. His appearances include Kenneth Branagh's adaptation of the Orient Express, the biographical documentary Dancer, The White Crow, and Red Sparrow.

I've been watching him dance for 3 days straight ! I had never heard of him. I don't follow Balllet. I watched his movie DANCER... I've become addicted. I've binge watched this man. He's painting. He's sculpting. He's living and dying at the same time. He's not just dancing... He's Bleeding. He's feeling, finding, searching, and losing.. he's lost. There is no love in his life. He IS LOVED.. but he's very alone. I've become obsessed. I've read so many articles and interviews he's given. The word "complicated" does not begin to define or explain him. He's truly a child. He never played with other kids.. he's never had a true girlfriend. He's had lovers but no likers. He was sent here with a specific purpose. To find himself. He's been on that hunt for self from the very first breath he took. His world is so empty yet filled to the brim with chaos and fans and sooo many vultures and sycophants and wannabes and takers trying to suck the very life out of him. I hope, with all my ❤ that he succeeds.When he truly finds himself... can you even BEGIN to to imagine that? We've only seen tiny pieces of his gifts. When he does finally achieve what he's looked so hard to find....Oh that will be a sight to behold. I hope I'm still around to see it.
You are where I was about 8 or 9 years ago. When I first came to know of Sergei I was so completely taken with his story I started making videos. I wanted to start preserving and cataloging, so to speak, his performances. They were hard to come by as the Royal Ballet has a very tight grip and super strict copyright restrictions on all of their recordings which of course is their right. But, many of his early roles were not filmed at all which to me is a tragedy. That he could ever step foot on stage with no video record of his performance was just unthinkable to me. My youtube channel which up until Sergei was just my own silly videos of cats and whatnot. It became the place I started stockpiling any bit of footage I could find of him. I would edit them, tidy them up, and try to make them into cohesive enjoyable homages that people could watch on their own and get to know him. I also started saving articles and interviews with him on a website I built. i think i already sent you the link but here it is again just in case. sergeipoluningracefulbeast.com. È secondo me il più grande danzatore in attività, ha tecnica ed espressività come nessun’altro, trasmette emozioni quando danza. Purtroppo penso che abbia un pochino sprecato il suo talento, avrebbe potuto fare molto di più e raggiungere senza problemi i livelli di Nureyev
I ve come across this video before and i ve been looking for ot for ages. I found it finally ! But in my memory, there s someone like a '' sensei'' who takes 9f the dancer' s coat before he is revealed to the public. In my memory the dance was like an asian ceremony or something.. That s why i couldn t find it sooner i guess
