  • I love having shiny horses. But a lot of the ready made sprays while making your horse shiny can dry our your horses coat. And if you get the spray on the saddle area, well things can get really slippery! But I have a solution to that, how about making your own shine spray for your horse? Its very easy! And it doesn't make your horses coat slippery either!
It's really easy to make the spray, you just need a few ingredients, and a spray bottle. The ingredients you need are:
    Water
    Vegetable glycerin
    Fractionated coconut oil
    Witch Hazel
    White vinegar
    Aloe Vera gel
Essential oils or fragrance oil (optional)
Then you just put everything into a spray bottle, shake it up ant there you go!

I can't wait to make this for my horse this spring. MN gets nasty weather in the winter so no sprays for him.

Just a heads up! Make sure the witch hazel you buy is alcohol free, because alcohol is drying and that is the opposite of what you want! Love the idea of using citronella oil!

Is the vinegar in this mixture to close the hair cuticles and/or act as an antifungal? Glycerin is a humectant. In winter wouldn't this ingredient take moisture out rather than attract it from the environment during warmer seasons? If hair is LYING DOWN, does this inhibit the hair from standing up when the horse needs to warm itself? BTW this is a great video. You take great care of your horses.
