- I have been searching for the best of the best grooming tools for my horses. I love to groom my horses, and this is not necessarily a good thing for their manes and tails.
There are so many different brushes available for horse owners, and most of the ones I have tried claim to be the best.
So I decided to try the BioMane Mane and Tail brush - and see if this brush is one of the best.
How to brush a mane
Work through it without the brush - using your hands
Spray on a detangler
Then get out the brush
Start at the ends of the hair
Work your way up
Separate the top into sections
If your horse's mane is thick, brush from underneath the mane
How did the BioMane Brush do? Well, I think it did wonderfully! Hopefully, you found this video helpful - it shows you how to brush a horse's mane without ripping the hair out!
Is this the best way to brush your horse's mane? Is this the recommended way to brush a mane? Well, if this is the way recommended by the people who are the authority on longer manes and tails, then I would say yes, this is the way.

I agree! I love this brush also, and like you l did a deep dive into how to grow a long mane since l bought my dream horse! I was super frustrated with his mediocre mane and since he's a FRIESIAN GYPSY cross!!! How is this possible!? With supplements, castor oil massages, and the right tools, it's better but not what you'd expect with that cross!!! I also have a baby Drum horse and wow, careful what ya wish for!!! So much mane!
I make my own…1 litre spray bottle, 1 x cup generic conditioner, 1tbs of argon oil and fill remaining with plain water….I have draft horses and their names and tails are super thick, shiny and very long and healthy
I wish I could afford it. Even with careful care my mare won’t grown more than mid neck and her tail gets just above her fetlocks. My horses are in a pasture 24/7 that has trees, so that isn’t conducive to a beautiful mane and tail.
Saddlebreds and Morgans....we pick the manes and tails out. We never brush them. And we cry when a hair comes out. 😉
