- If you want to see Toronto from a more local point of view, join me in touring a couple of my favorite neighborhoods; Chinatown and Kensington Market! For amazing restaurants, eclectic style and a tight knit community feel in a big city, these neighborhoods are fantastic. I've been living in Toronto for almost 7 years now and decided to create a series for you guys where I show you neighborhoods that aren't always talked about as major attractions. I hope this video will be helpful for anyone looking to move to Canada or to simply come for a visit. Enjoy! xx

It reminds me of the old days when I worked in Toronto more than 25 years ago. Thank you for showing me around the old Dundas street. I miss the old friends there.
Thank you for filming this episode. It's nice to see the little neighborhoods in Toronto, unique with their own vibes.
Many more to come!
Thanks Alina, as always your showings of areas that most of us may never get the chance to see is a real treat. I have been to Toronto, but never knew some of the areas existed. Your advice is always welcome in anyplace you share. Looking forward to your travels later this summer also. Cheers !!
Thank you, Michael!
14:29 you have a light that illuminates everyone around you
Thanks, Alina, for the great tour. It's been a minute since I've been in Toronto. It's still a beautiful city.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I love the 6ix. Very nice place Good walkable city and easy to find amazing paths.
Thanks for this. It feels like a real depiction for waht the city looks like.
Thank you for sharing everything very cool part of Toronto!
Thanks for showing us around TO!
It has been about 2 weeks since I started watching you. Very informative and entertaining at the same time. It has been along time since I was over seas, since watching your blogs I am seriously thinking about taking a trip this year. Looking forward to your travels again...
That's wonderful! Thank you so much. Hope you get in some great travels soon!
Great Video. Thank you for posting.
I remember watching a TV show called the (king of kensington) with Al Waxman ..
oh my goodness! forgot about that show...wow...
LOL YA WHEN WE ONLY HAD 3 CHANNELS
Stayed in Kensington Market around this time last year, very creative place! Nice to see the Garden Car hasn’t gone anywhere!
Yeah its been here forever! Though it keeps getting painted something different every year it seems.
Excellent camera choice.
The colours are so vivid & clear 👌
Happy to read you wore your mask indoors 😷
Thank you Alina for your videos!
You are so welcome!
Thank you for that trip down memory lane. It's been quite a while since I wandered Kensington Market and the West End China Town - The China Town you mentioned to the East on Dundas is at Broadview Ave and where I used to hang out at times as I lived just up the street at Danforth (Greektown). I had forgotten how awesome some of the wall art in Kensington was. Now I have a pang for my home town lol Thank you again for taking the time and sharing. I hope you keep it up before you leave in a couple of months. BTW: The camera you used was much clearer, as was the audio.
Thank you so much! Glad it brought back memories. Many more neighborhoods to come!
My city. Nice relaxing video. I love your sunglasses! Haven't been to Kensington area for years - used to as a teenager (eons ago), often.
This video is pretty nice. I am so happy to see you and your new buddy “ Sony FDR X3000” are showing us a good performance. I hope you will be fine and do the best to create videos like this and make us happy until your next departure to the world tour. Thank you Alina, wish you all the best!!!
Thank you so much! Many adventures to come!
Thanks for sharing this, brings back great memories :) I took my grandkids to Toronto to skate at Nathan Phillips Sq. Dec 22/19 at midnight lol...Toronto was alive and well, people were everywhere enjoying. I want to take them on a street car and to Ontario place, but Covid happened.
Thank you for this video. I do not know if I would can travel ever to Canada. Very nice please make further with your videos they are very interesting
Hi Alina, thanks for showing us a little bit of the city of Toronto. It is seen to be a very orderly and clean city. I also liked the background music. Greetings from Argentina!
My pleasure 😊
Thanks Alina always perseverant.
Thank you for interesting video.
I grew up in the early 60's in Danforth's Greek Town before it was Greek. I'm enjoying watching you share your knowledge of today's Toronto. Yes, I am from "Torono" (and I speak Russian too!).
Thanks and that's so cool!
ALINA MCLEOD is extremely intelligent, cultured, well-mannered, wise, humble!!!
Really nice video Alina! 😎
Lived in Toronto pretty much all my life and those skies overhead looked quite amazing ... a rarity for me to see from the down town core since I stay in Scarborough most of the time.
A Fantastic veiw thanks for the great adventures of Toronto!Alina Luv&Peace be safe from speedy creek Saskatchewan!...🙂✌⚘
We were looking for this video, as we wanted to drink bubble tea 🧋 😊😊😊
Excellent video, again.
Toronto looks great.First video of Toronto I've seen you do
Got a lot more from years ago!
Awesome video beautiful city thanks 🙏🏾 for tour be safe
I worked as an electrician in Saskatchewan from 2009 to 2013 I miss that land of living skies, I am looking forward to travel there next year
I lived in Toronto several decades ago. Spadina Road is not recognizable if not for the Chinese and Viet signboards on the shops. Kensington market area seems to have retained quite a bit of it's past. Very nice to see Toronto again through your lenses. Your video quality is certainly enhanced with your new Sony camera.
Toronto looks like a beautiful city. I hope to visit Hogtown one day. Sending my love from Miami, Florida Alina ❤
Expensive too
@@robrobski9445 hogtown what a weird name i don't recall anyone i know ever calling it that...It has always been the 416 or the six or "trawno" to me lol
@@fabfashionista13 Hogtown is quite common actually. It comes from the slaughterhouses that use to operate in Toronto. I believe the last one closed not too long ago. Probably within the past 10-15 years.
The whole 416 nickname is relatively new. It only came to be after the old 416 area code which comprised most of the Golden Horseshoe area, was designated solely for the metropolitan area and the rest of the region was assigned the 905 area code.
@@fabfashionista13 If you were born in TORONTO and grew up there in the 50's and 60's the city's nickname was Hogtown. And others like YYZ . If you look up the history of the city you will learn why it was called Hogtown . And aka cabbagetown . Maybe you grew up in the 80's and that answer it.
Hi Alina , I have been to Toronto twice & find it very impressive. Very modern & chic. 10:25 Never been to Gus's Taco Looks Awesome ! 🌮 😋
I love TruTea! Next time also try the rose tea latte, it's a rose pudding/jelly with rose petals as a finish. Only downside is no adjustment of sugar level, so may be a bit sweet.
Thanks, Alina, for another wonderful video! I'll likely never see Toronto in 3D.
What I'll remember most about the 2020 lockdown is binge watching on Alina Mcleod's videos.
I absolutely watched the video podcast of her and the rest of 2 travel vloggers
Cool showing Toronto around. Never knew tuina massage was like that. I might just try it out :)
This is so awesome and cool place.
Cool Alina, I can't stop watching you! A couple of years ago, my Airbnb was in Chinatown, walking distance from Kensington Market, which is quaint and stuff but living there is a different story. Also, one thing that shocked me was to see a whole dead pig hanging on display in the window of some Chinese restaurants. I do eat pork, don't get me wrong, but I just didn't understand why they need to display it like that. I'd rather see photos of cooked meals though.
Go to South America they hang dead Cows outside all covered in flies in warm weather .
be careful chinatown around this time, 50 / 50 on that....
Not a whole raw pig, but a fully cooked roasted pig. They'll cut off a piece for you when you go in to buy some.
Lol, I saw you for the first time on the Dating Beyond Borders channel.
I can't believe I discovered this channel at random! I loved it, so interesting!
haha thank you so much! CZcams is a small place sometimes :)
HI Alina ..Good Afternoon ...Hello Toronto...Amazing...thanks .💖🙏👍
At the beginning of the video things looked so normal that I thought it must have been filmed a while back. Good to know that Chinatown is back in business! So funny that your first stop was for bubble tea! Toronto by the way is so beautiful - I've always wanted to go there but have been warned that it's just another concrete urban wasteland. Nothing could be further from the truth! So glad that after showing off the world, you are now showing off your hometown. Russia might be more exotic (to me), but it's also nice to see things as a local - even vicariously! Love this new "townie" series.
The only people that talk shit about toronto are yuppies that have never actually been to toronto lmfao
That was fun.
I love tapioca Boba milk tea! Yummy!
I miss toronto so much.. i lived right on kensington market for a year in 2018..watching your video bringing me back all those good memories, and i have been all to the place you have shown in the video.. but most memorable one was the walk to work everyday and night through UOT to halal guys at yonge street...i would love to see you doing food tour at halal guys, its very decent food, but you should try.. please do it and if you do, i’ll treat you if you ever come to malaysia, i have a guesthouse here and you should come n travel here once this crazy covid is gone.cheers❤️❤️❤️
A bar known as Blue Oyster was recently destroyed (from the movie Police Academy) . However, you can shoot the places where famous films were shot that still exist. I think it will be very interesting to many people. Toronto makes many Hollywood films and TV shows.
30-40 years ago, there would be fresh fish, chickens, rabbit, lamb etc. out on counters for the ethnic community to buy in Kensington Market. As a kid, I'd go with my mom to pick up a LIVE chicken! You could imagine the smells in the area the market had at the time! It catered to the Portuguese, Italian, Chinese, Jewish at the time.
Wow, crazy!
I’ve got so many relatives in Toronto, I should definitely visit one day!
You absolutely should! Come to the great white North ;)
White winter is good, but our north green winter is more pleasant :)
It’s funny because I stayed in that exact Hostel, I was in Toronto back in 2017 hopefully I’ll be back again to live in 2022 🙏🏾
Блин, какой же у тебя приятный английский! Даже с базовыми знаниями языка большая часть понятна.
Вот бы все тревел-блогеры разговаривали так же)
хаха спасибо
Wow new trolleys! I got to ride the older ones when i was younger.=8) oh i think the osmo is fine!
Great! Nice scenes!
A few friends and I used to rent a basement apartment across the street from that hostel back in 2005. It looked sketchy back then too LOL.
Interesting video
Please make 3 or 4 more videos about Toronto
Toronto came alive
Best wishes
Great video and camera work Toronto is a very nice place. The music is superb deserves more subscribers ,views, likes.I really like it 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍.waiting for your next video.😄
Thank you!
Keep doing! It's great!
yes the foot massages in Chinatown are amazing and most places charge around 40 dollars on Dundas street.
We have very incredible tuina in KL as well .. i shall give u one when u r here ..!! And many of those fruits and vegies at Chinatown are available here as well ..!!
Definitely want to visit Kuala Lumpur sometime!
I was suppose to be in Canada this year to see the Calgary stampede and travel, but alas, it will have to wait. Any plans to come to Ireland and do a travel vlog here?. Enjoying the vlogs, Stay safe.
Those mural paintings Kensington is quite a place
Toronto is awesome!
Some very powerful, expressive graffiti images there. During evening hours is when arts and cultural districts really seem to come alive. Are there bands and alternative music there? I am glad that you don’t live above the “Pink Canary” any longer, to say the least - yup, kinda “seedy” looking! Looking forward to more of this series, Alina - especially biking, hiking, and running in parks and nature - one of my favorite things! Glad you are happy and back again (was worried the negative comments on your previous post may have plowed you under for a bit). We love ya, Take care!
Thank you! There are a lot of live music venues in Toronto, a lot sadly not open now, but lots of street performers in the city too.
Alina Mcleod, very cool! I have a heart for buskers - play acoustic guitar pretty well. Loving the Cody Francis stuff on Epidemic. Have you heard of Calum Graham - a really good acoustic guitarist in Canada - Vancouver area now, I think? Check him out on YT sometime!
I so glad i watched this vedio finally found a place that sells lychi
Always nice to see you smiling, look forward AM you've a lot potential to achieve whatever you want to, be wishes CM🌼
Eastend Chinatown: Broadview/Gerrard. India Bazaar: Coxwell/Gerrard. First place I moved into was near Danforth and Broadview. Then I moved to Mirvish Village, then The Beaches , then Greektown, then Agincourt, then Don Mills, a couple of places in Scarborough Center, and soon will be moving to Finchurst (Bathurst/Finch).
Around the World on the Carlton Street car. Indian Bazaar, Eastend Chinatown, Cabbagetown, Little Italy, Roncesvalles, with side trips to Greektown (Pape/Danforth) and Little Portugal (Duffern/Dundas).
Very nice!
Алина - Noticed camera right away, can't explain but could tell something different. New gear info at the ending, good job. Also on your final walking shot of Kensington Market you have some lucky people in the background. ? . Yeah, the U Haul, lucky to be moving oot. Let's hope the closed small shops get opened up and going again. Рака.
2:08 i loved your look
Kensington market reminds me of San Francisco..👍seems really a chill place..luv to visit one day..
I've been to a few rather offbeat parts of Canada such as Saskatchewan and Newfoundland, but I still haven't made it to Toronto. It's in my top 3 places to go to as soon as life begins to return to normal.
Hope you have a great time!
i was n toronto n 05 ,, yeahhhhhh ,, great town ,, young street ..

thank you beautiful,i may not have the chance to go there, with your videos it seems i have.really really thank you very much.
You should also do a video of the Russian/Ukranian part of Toronto (if there is any). Local russian shops and stores you would go with your parents. Would be awesome! 😁
Ukrainian part might be my next video!
Do you visit the old town district of Toronto? My late Uncle's mother in law lived there. She was Italian-Canadian. Still have cousins living in Ontario but have only visited Vancouver. Thank you for showing "all" the area of Toronto.
The way you recorded, it really fascinating apart from it, you are looking awesome wearing glasses
It had a very Rick Mercer-ish feel to it. Yeah, there's a Chinatown in Markham - it's called: "Markham", lol.
Waoo Toronto is beautiful and exciting city awsome vlog i m watching from pakistan 🇵🇰 love Canada 🍁
HEY TORONTO HERE !! HI !!!
wow, new color street cars, i mean new design , havent been to torono since 2001, they were different back in 90s

Interesting video , good editing skills :-)
Очень приятная прогулка получилась! Спасибищи-щи-ще тебе, дорогая! ( щи-щи-ще здесь - это очень, очень, очень превосходящая степень; поверь заслужить такую оценку очень не легко)
best pizzaria in toronto is in kensington ...via mercato ...you should try it
buses sure has change a lot now with buttons in Toronto seen's i was there in 1990
Alina, thank you so much for showing us Toronto Chinatown which I requested sometime ago. I am Chinese, and I live and work outside of Detroit, Michigan, used to go there frequently until the Wuhan virus spread. A little knowledge in case you are interested. The Chinese population in Toronto metropolitan area grew in 3 three stages (1) prior to 1990s. Those were the older generations of Chinese immigrants settled in north America for historical reasons, the same as those settled in New York and San Francisco. (2) 1990s to early 2000. Many people from Hongkong flushed to Canada when it was returned to China from the British control. They established several satellite China towns outside of the city center, such as those in Markham. (3) early 2000-2019, the rich and corrupt Chinese from mainland China flushed to the area, largely taking over those satellite China towns in the outskirts. With it, they introduced the corrupt Chinese culture into the area, political and economical likewise. Now it is in a sudden decay and chaos. Their money flow has stopped. I am certain that this is the beginning of the end of the Chinese influence in north America as US has led the world to realize the evil nature of the Chinese government (except for your socialist Trudeau)

Please stop commenting political and spreading hatred in these lovely clips... most of the viewers wouldn't care.
@@mikez3421 Unfortunately, you can't dictate what I can or cannot write even you try to act as if you can. This is the beauty of the freedom of speech.
@@BLAZINGGSWARM I am flattered, but regretfully I am not.
Starting your comment with " I am Chinese" then ending it with "evil Chinese"...lol.. Well, they dont care your political view, they attack first and do not ask question...thanks for your contribution !! Your time is gonna come...said Robert Plant from Led Zeppelin.. the day you get it, think of me buddy...
stay safe alina
good to see different cultures in food and willing to be part of your life. i believe experience different cultures, their food and traditions, it is one way to learn and appreciate, the one thing the world needs now... something to appreciate everyone and learn that we are all very similiar and if everyone just see we are not that different in food and culture.... im ABC (American Born Chinese) from NYC and i do not like bubble tea, especially tapioca.. haha
That is very true!
Hey Alina. Love your videos. Can you tell us camera you use please? Thanks Al
