Toronto As A Local | Ukrainian Bloor West, High Park + Polish Roncesvalles

  • There's a lot more to see in Toronto than just the downtown core. Did you know there's Ukrainian and Polish districts on the west side of Toronto that are very close to High Park? Ukrainian cabbage rolls and Polish kalbasa are a must if you visit these districts, as well as a walk down to Lake Ontario. Hanging out in the more local neighborhoods of a city always gives you more insight to what life is like for the average person living there. I hope this video will give you some new ideas of what to do in Bloor West Village, Roncesvalles and High Park!

Fantastic video! Toronto is a diverse city, and I love how you've highlighted it in this series so far by showing these neighborhoods. Camerawork was splendid once again, especially at High Park. It's truly a blessing to have such expansive greenspace within the city. Keep up the good work and I look forward to the next one 👍🏼

My wife and I, and my sisters and mother have attended the Ukrainian Festival on Bloor St. when it was held in August a number of times... very enjoyable. Then they moved it to September, which seemed not to be as convenient. Sadly, we have not been to it since. It was there I had my first taste of Borscht. I also bought my first Ukrainian shirt at the festival... very expensive. When I was in Ukraine in 2018, I bought another Ukrainian shirt for 1/4 the price. I like them both.

That bank is a community bank and it doesn’t have any connection to the actual Ukraine banks. There are also branches like that in the New Jersey and Chicago. The event calls Ukrainian days which happening every year on August 24, Ukraine Independence Day. We also have the same festival in Chicago but in general there is a big Ukrainian community here in Chicago and the area calls Ukrainian village full of Ukrainian churches, shops and restaurants🤗

Enjoyed video on Toronto. When is "Simcoe" day in Ontario - the "founder" of Ontario - General Simcoe is buried in east Devon, United Kingdom. His gave and area around it is owned and kept by the state of Ontario. Maybe Devon, United Kingdom could be one other place you could visit. There is also a monument to him in Exeter Cathedral - he died in the Cathedral Close, Exeter, Devon. You will also see more swans on and beside the river Exe.

Awesome! High Park is still so beautiful. And yes, you're right, when I saw you walking up to those Canadian Geese my first thought was "Be careful Alina. They're territorial and will attack you." - Fortunately you already knew that... although it would have been pretty funny to see you running away from a goose! lol
    ---
I'm not familiar with the cultural areas you were walking through so it was nice to learn a little something new about T.O. Thank you for sharing.
    ---
The homes in High Park *are* incredible. I've been in a few of them as a party guest and in one I can truthfully say that I got "lost" in the upper hallways looking for a bathroom. Now whether that was because the house was so large or the quantity of alcohol I'd consumed was is still the remaining question all these years later :-)

Stay healthy and I'm looking forward to future videos from you.

I grew up in SE Michigan about an hour from the Windsor Border.
My very first trip outside the USA was my sixth grade trip to Toronto.
Our class took the train and stayed at the University of Toronto Dorms.
What a wonderful trip. Since then I've been to the city as a friend owns
a hotel on Queens Street West. I've also spent time there for different performance events. I traveled in to see the premiere of Fosse many many years ago :)
Toronto is lovely, but the prices are outrageous.
I suppose I shouldn't complain about prices considering I lived on the Upper East Side of NYC for 10 years. Living in NYC is so unbelievably expensive, even when you have money it's expensive. I moved out in 2015 and I'm now back in rural Michigan living on a lake with my dog and loving life. The city was fun while I was young, but you hit 40 and it's time to leave :)
My family and I would spend holidays at St. Anne's Castle. I believe it's a spa now.
It's in Grafton, Ontario. I have lovely memories from our times there. www.steannes.com/

nice video. You should go to New York city, to the Russian/Ukrainian neighborhood of Brighton Beach, tons of restaurants, shops nightclubs. All the signs are in the Cyrillic alphabet, so when you exit the subway station you really feel like you've made a long journey!
