League definitely has a tutorial. You might have accidentally skipped it or something. And it does have a beginner mode, bots. Bots do not do strategies like ganking/cc chain/turret diving/ etc. and intro bots buy very bad items for their champ/role. League is definitely easier for beginners due to it's lower complexity. It shows recommended build paths for items and abilities (which change depending on your role), jungle path recommendations, and it is just a simpler game in terms of objectives. I agree with most of your other categories but after playing both games for a while League is certainly easier to pick up on for beginners.

    Thanks for the video!
First thing I will mention is that there is a tutorial in league of legends although I haven't played it in years so I don't know how good it is. It should be the intro difficulty setting in COOP vs AI. Secondly, my personal preference is league of legends because the entry point into DOTA was simply was too difficult for me to generate much motivation to play it. Perhaps it works reverse as well for dota players learning league, but needing to learn what an entire roster of new champions and items do is a rather daunting task now that those rosters are so large (not to mention micro/macro).

    • @DotaDose_
      @DotaDose_  Před 8 měsíci

Yeah i definitly feel the same thing, League is cool but not enought to make a change because im used to Dota, now that im used to every hero and item i dont want to learn everything again!

I came to the different conclusion even though I still played Dota when I first tried League and I haven't looked back at Dota since then. I was able to grasp almost all champions' abilities in a few weeks tho. Here's how I actually learned League.
    1. Locked champions was actually a good thing for me. I kept my champion pool to 3-5 for first two to three weeks and tried to learn their item build paths. It wasn't that difficult because most of the items were passive and passive effects were rather obvious in what they do. What stats you want on your champions then what effects you want to counter your opponents. So I thought I would rather invest my early matches to play a few champions and learn them instead of messing around with different champions. For me, I wouldn't want someone who is fairly new to Dota to pick Invoker because it is popular and already "unlocked" and threw the entire match. Plus, the advantage is when you somehow re-rolled a skin for champion you haven't unlocked and you don't want it, you can either trash it for some essence or reroll again.
    2. ARAM helps a lot learning the champions' abilities. I spent more times playing ARAM then playing normal game mode.
    3. Most champion's abilities are very basic and not complicated, so they are mostly easy to identified. Dashes, CCs, pure damage abilities, etc. Just playing one or playing against one the first time should be enough for you to know the entire champion kit. Lately League introduced a few complex champions but they are not so broken that you can learn at your own pace.
    4. I guess that before you hit game level 30, you will be paired with those who are around your same level unless the others are in premade. Because I rarely played against one or two high level players when I started.

Nice video, I played both dota and league (divine on dota and gold on league)
Some of the things you forgot to mention in the video are
1-Legue is overall much less complex then dota so if you like less complex game then league is better for you
2-I think overall league heroes average is more complex then dota but since there is no in league like dota that makes is overall less complex game.
3-League is way more toxic in my opinion there is almost not a single game where a guy is flaming another in ranked matchmaking.
other than that the video is really great just I would liked more if you mentioned the items as well.

I love your video. I have played both and although Dota is really fun for me the clear winner is league. It really depends on if you like more an strategic aproach or a mechanical one. Not saying that league doesn't have strategies or Dota doesn't have mechanical complex heroes but they aren't the focus. League is more about mobility, damage and individual skill for the most part, CC's are very limited on purpose.
I'm really enjoying to see all this Dota players try league. For the most part Dota2 Community has a really toxic view of league and the league community doesn't even know what Dota2 is even with all the history between the two games. You should check out Grubby and Tzar Potato. Grubby has experience in both Heroes of the Storms and Dota2 and is now making a series learning League, in his videos he does a really good job at comparing all three mobas and pointing out the strengths each one of them have over the other. Tzar Potato is a player of both games who does mostly comparison videos in an objective and critical way. Really which to see more overlap in the MOBA's community!!

I really liked the video and think its pretty cool for a Dota player to try out League. I played League for probably 6 years and Dota for 2 years and this would be my rating:
Graphics: League 1:0. But I would like to mention that Dota Map Skins and Creep Skins are a really awsome concept which League should probably adapt. But the overall graphic and Skins goes to League.
Toxicity: League 2:0. Dota toxicity is just beyond comprehenstion. Especially the russian people in the voice chat.
    Queuing speed: Dota 1:2
Heroes: League 3:1. Dota has some really cool heroes like Invoker but in my opinion the Dota Champs just feel really weird and not smooth at all.
Most challenging: Dota 2:3, its just the overall harder game.
More starter friendly: League 4:2. The tutorial is pretty good in my opinion.
    Best Game League.

As for begginer friendly i found out it actually had a tutorial, but it seemed very incomplete compared to the dota one that has a guide for everything.
There is a lot of people that are saying lol is more toxic but the russians are genuanly so anoying on dota
Still best game is the one u like the most

@@DotaDose_ Well when I am honest I havent touched Dota in like 3-4 years and tutorial havent touched in probably 7 so that is kind of a bad rating from me because I dont know how it is right now compared to past then. And the graphics is really a personal thing, but in my opinion the "realistic" graphics looks weird to me, but it is kinda "creepy" and the atmosphere is kinda spooky in dota thats pretty cool. In League everything looks kinda lika a cartoon but the colours and effects and map animations are just to beautiful for me.
To sum it up both games are good and both communitys are too toxic to beef with each other so they should stay in their community.

      Nice conclusion 😅

    • @bluebearie7230
      @bluebearie7230 Před 7 měsíci

toxicity is subjective, it also depends a lot on the regions
from my experience, DotA chats are mainly just trashtalk without much meaning behind it, even with the Russians and Philippines. but in LoL, they're actually insulting you at personal level.
LoL Tutorial is very incomplete and only teaches you the barebone, you will need to learn the majority of gameplay outside the tutorial, esp if you want to go high in the ranking. DotA's tutorial has better pacing imo, the tutorial also has something to tech you even after many playing hours instead of being a "one and done" deal like LoL. You can also get coaches to help with your journey pretty easily in DotA, and if you just admit that you're new or learning a new hero/role, 99% of the times nobody would blame you for your mistakes, they would even try to help you get better. imo DotA is actually more welcoming to new players, despite being more complicated.
      DotA graphics is objectively better.
DotA heroes have turn rate by design, so it will feel a clunky when you want to kite, like run away and use an ability backward. there's a bit of realism in it - but this is purely subjective. LoL champions clearly have better mobility by design, and you dont have to work hard to get it, on the other hand DotA heroes needs some investment to get there - so this is subjective too.
As mentioned in the video, LoL champs mostly give you instant gratification because abilities are designed for damage rather than control, as well as free mobility, giving you a feeling that that a fight is more fast paced. items focuses mainly on stats rather than changing how you play your champs. on the other hand, DotA heroes are incomplete by design, giving you rooms for customization. this is also purely subjective and can't really be judged.
in short, most stuff are subjective. play whatever you enjoy more

  • @jBaO493
    @jBaO493 Před 7 měsíci

As a league player I can say that I've tried dota before but it just doesnt click
Maybe because there's so much stuff that you have to keep track of, and you can never really enjoy the game cuz you're always like "ah fk, I forgot to call the donkey" and "ahh fk i forgot to buy scrolls" and stuff like that
Meanwhile in league (if you are just playing casually) you can just go to lane and play the game, no need to worry about paying attention to anything else, you can just go to a lane, fight an opponent and have fun trying to outplay him
And that's something else; having fun. In Dota I didn't really have fun cuz, no offense, the champions might be broken and have crazy abilities and complex kits, but they just feel super slow, sluggish, with no flow, rime or reason in their abilities.
Like, sure league champs are simple compared to Dota's, but they are fun to play. It feels good to land your skillshots and outplay your opponent, it feels good to have kits that synergize with themselves and flow so well.
So basically, I guess I enjoy league's gameplay better, and to me that's what matters most

Starter friendly definitely incorrect because League has a tutorial. The fact that it says "Tutorial" in the game mode selection screen and it was totally blanked out is just an unfair comparison.
Furthermore, I associate "starter friendly" more than just "hey, there's a tutorial." It's how easy it is to "pick up the game" as a whole, in which League definitely wins. I tried Dota 2 once, stuck in loading screen forever because I didn't realise you had to click something to go into the game, and by that time, five minutes of the game had passed, and it was pretty much over since the enemy had five players who knew what they were doing and our team were all starters like me. Needless to say, that doesn't encourage anyone to return.
Toxicity is also incorrect. League was voted the most toxic community by far and won by a landslide. Yes, Rito has tried to address this, and yes, it's been curbed, but the players remain the most toxic in the community, even if it's not expressed in words alone. You haven't had the full experience of League to begin fathoming the toxicity.

Interesting take, I am a LoL player nowadays, but I can see where you coming from. If I were to comment on some topic...
Graphics: Yes, it's childish, its cartoonish, and as you said it's preference. Though one thing that triggers me on Dota is that the clarity of seeing some stuff is kinda messed up sometimes because there's no clear visual distinction.
Heroes (and itens): It's a fucking mess on LoL. Some can build anything, others only work with some. Some are just status checkers and other's have more mechanics than a woman on her sensitive period (hope my wife doesnt read this) many of them you can play everywhere and some basically nowhere and are a balance pain. As for itens, I would just say I hate Dota's 'probability' stuff, like chance to evade and so on.
Starter friendly: I honestly think both suck for a new player, but Dota is better. LoL has a lower ceiling or u to play 'good enough' while Dota is way above. On the other hand Dota tries better at the tutorials, and are great! LoL Tuto is insufferable. Then again, if you wanna go further on any game you would CZcams it for more stuff, so... kinda makes LoL faster to learn.

Toxicity -Dota 2 (Only toxic community that can rival league was Overwatch)
Queue speed - Dota 2 (I had to wait 6 min for a quick match. Where is the quick in that?

The part about dota being more challenging than league is a bit "Dunning-Kruger effect". You have played 10 league games, most likely with other new players. This is not enough to learn the depth of league. You definitely cannot grade both games on the topic "challenging" with only 10 games.
FYI league does have a tutorial which you are required to play on new accounts before you can start bot games. It is under the tab "training" at 1:45

    • @mitchlymer

    • @xazarl3381
      @xazarl3381 Před 8 měsíci +2

@@mitchlymer you can get all champions with xbox game pass but besides that by level 30 which is when you get ranked you will have like 40-60k Blue essence some champions cost 375 some cost 1350, 3150, 4800, 6300, 7800 depending on release date i think. Most people in league play 1-3 champions so will never play all of them anyways as champions in league are way more mechanically demanding and its far to difficult whereas in dota most heroes are simple but you require understanding of the game and if you can play the game you can play the hero as everyone auto attacks. That is not the same in league even pros will not dare play certain champions as there not good enough to pull it off where some pros will as they have good hands.
An example of this is the item Force Staff in dota 2 it works a lot like flash in league more than blink dagger and give you outplayability and safety. So if you can use the mechanics of the force staff to make your hero excel more you will be a better player items like that dont exist in league as that kind of item exists inside a champions kit or is used like the summoner spell flash. So if you have good force staff knowledge you can build that on any hero in dota 2 who can use it and excel with it.
I used to think Dota 2 was insanely difficult but after playing it over christmas its actually not and im quite enjoying it the only hero that i have tested in demo that hurt my brain is Invoker as you need to memorise a lot more before you play it and how to combo. Most other heroes auto attack like master yi (one of the most simple league champions who stomps low elo) have 2 damage abilities and 2 amplify or 2 cc abilities. So its like Axe blink taunt turn on blademail hit kills, legion commander blink ult kill stack ult, heroes that have illusions like Naga Siren, Arc Warden, Puck are very good and require like RTS skills but that isnt what league players class as mechanical skill even though it is one so if you can farm multiple waves and jungle you stack gold so fast on these.
But you will never persuade a league player that running in with different clones of puck and kiting low hp ones out is mechanically harder than Akali, Zed, Riven, Yasuo, Yone, Gangplank, Ekko, Fiora, Katarina, Sylas, Aphelios, Ezreal, Draven and Jayce it just isnt going to happen and then the mechanical kiting of ad carrys. - czcams.com/video/PRS_llkCmpY/video.html&ab_channel=GLHF - Also dota will never have this much - czcams.com/video/NolHvXjZA4A/video.html&ab_channel=%EB%A1%A4%EC%9D%BD%EB%82%A8LOLNAM

@xazarl3381 I agree with you that for beginners, League is better. Only for absolute beginners to RTS and MOBA, though. More for girls or non-gamers. Great for playing with a group of skill diverse people.
Dota is easier to learn for those who already have mechanical skills and understanding of MOBA. Everything you need to learn is there, and you can start right away.
You even know with Invoker. There's nothing near its complexity, especially situationally, in League. Sure, there are a few 2 button heroes, but that's the majority of league. You don't have to aim most spells they always hit. In Dota, target spells are the minority so even supports have to have some mechanical skill.
I didn't realize that the Xbox game pass was free. If it is, then you can get all the heroes for free. If not, then it's still p2w, even requiring a time commitment before you have all the heroes bizarre for MOBA.
Even if players stick to a small hero pool, they need access to demo all the heroes to understand how they work. Otherwise, they have no idea how to play against their timings. Plus, you can't click on the heroes to see what they do. If not unlocked, you have literally no clue how to build against them on the fly.

I thought so too but that really isn't a problem as you can basically get them all for free within 6 months if you play continuously. The more stupid problem is that until you haven't unlocked all heroes, you can't mess around in demo mode for those heroes like you could in Dota. This means that for the first 4 months and so, you have absolutely no idea what enemy heroes do. You can't even click on them and read their abilities like you can do in Dota. This massively bottlenecks the learning speed in my opinion.

    3. If you think League champs aren't complex, that's because you're literally playing the simplest champions in the game. You'd have a sensory overload if you had to read abilities from champs like Akshan or Aphelios.
    Great video overall.

On your first point, Dota has never stopped with updates, which completely changes the game every so often. So being older doesn't mean anything.
For hero complexity, each hero in Dota has a secondary skill tree and shard items that give extra skills. The depth of choice is much greater for different situations.
Also, for hero complexity, in Dota, you can practice with any hero. In the league, you can't even train on the heroes until you lock them. So you have no idea what the enemy heroes even do, just have to guess for minimum 6 months.

Yeah just by reading some comments i am finding out how lucky I was not finding the more toxic people on my games, i totally get your point about the hero depth that makes a lot of sense, but it was the conclusions i got out of only 10 games, thanks for the feedback tho.
Hope u liked it have a great day 🤜🤛

Dota 2 player here, divine rank. I played league twice. Once vs bots and one vs noobs. I had 20plus kills both games with Anri Ahri whatever its called. A friend told me: you just have to go mid, ward nonstop and press botons on enemies. I thought everyone would experience the same as I did and end up leaving the game.
