She is incredibly quick with her footwork and turns. Also, after creating quite a bit of momentum and force in one direction, she is able to stop on a dime. Impressive! I also heard it said during a video of a Bolshoi rehearsal that she is very well liked by her peers. That’s nice to hear. 😀

    • @Sandra-ud8py

It is done because Russia has very few black people living there compared to other countries, so there were no black ballet dancers. And they didn’t want black characters be played by white people, since it’s disrespectful. So they paint them black, to show that there are variety of nationalities. (So by trying to show people they respect everyone equally, they end up in trouble, not a successful tactic)

It's a theater fo God sake,it's an art! The make up is applied not to offend somebody, just for the sake of the character played! It's a fragment from "Bayadere",the plot happens in ancient India, naturally, there should be dark colored people!

I can’t stand the audience clapping before the end of a number. The Bolshoi public always does that, it’s very disruptive and turns the dancers into circus gimmicks.. unbearable.
