He looks like me (the poor boy😝). When we are discussing music, movies etc he alway tells me he is genuine jealous because he is is convinced growing up in the 60th/70th was awesome. When you're a Baby Boomer and growing up with listen to The Beatles and The Rolling Stones in the 60s it lead the way to heavy times with so much fresh, raw & original.
Nothing like the Blues. Loved Santana early 70s, but Jimi Hendrix and Eric Clapton was more my taste than George Harrison in the 70s. Alvin Lee was always hot too. Seems lots of great guitar sounds in the late 60s but I also loved The Bee Gees too even they weren't Rock n'Roll or Blues...their music made you feel good. ❤❤❤

An incredible duet and a reminder of what we too often forgot: how intuitive and soulful a guitar player the great composer George Harrison was and how great and underestimated a blues-soul singer the great Woodstock Guitar slinger Alvin Lee was. Perhaps the single greatest post-Woodstock pairing of these Woodstock generation icons. These two played, composed, and worked in great combos ( I saw and heard Harrison playing with a young Robben Ford), and Lee, I feel, felt compelled to duke it out with his generational rivals. But here, Lee and Harrison leave all of that hoo hah -- the weight of their legends, the weight of their fame, the weight of fans' demands, even the long shadows of Lee's and Harrison's shared influences (Leadbelly, Big Bill Broonzy, Elmore James, et al.). and get to the core, the essence of it all.
Here Lee forsakes the guitar shootouts and the trepidation of doing right by his mentors, and Harrison leaves his compositional fastidiousness; together they achieve a heart-breaking intimacy , a meditation on loss, awakening, redemption. It is an astonishing performance. And then we realize the utter devastation in the loss of Lee and Harrison:Oh, we always knew they were great. But now we truly realize WHY.

Seeing the photo of Alvin Lee with his Fillmore T-shirt takes me back to 1970 when 10 Years After first played the hall in New York. By an odd circumstance, I went with them into Manhattan from Englewood, NJ as their "Hammond Organ tech" and all around gopher. I was a 20 year-old kid, loving every minute of being around great musicians like Al and Chick, Rick and Leo, and all the rest, who are unfortunately leaving the planet with a depressing regularity. Chick, an organist was especially kind and generous, but has been gone for 10 years. He was a well rounded musician, with a background in classical piano.
The band moved on, but I stayed with the Fillmore (East). It became my hangout over the next three years, a great place to hear great bands and make great friends. It was the perfect learning experience for this young long haired freak, trying to figure it all out. Thank you Bill and may God bless your soul for the kindness you showed to this young man, looking for himself.
I have no regrets for putting off formal schooling and my "professional career" for a rock & roll dream. My only regret is that I no longer fit in my old Fillmore T-shirts.

Dang, this is cool. Love to discover the connections in the music matrix.
To think George picked up slide around the end of the Beatles.

Oh God... this wasn't from this earth... They both must've played with their seventh senses, I believe! Sooo deep. 💙

Great guy, Alvin. The most emotive of all the rock stars. He wore his heart on his sleeve. He stole the show at Woodstock. Yet, Ten Years After has never been inducted into the RRHOF? I smell a rat.

To the folks that never knew Alvin Lee was such a good soloist: he’s got plenty of songs that show it off, from this one to I’m Going Home live at Woodstock ( or anywhere else, lol), to I Woke Up This Morning, to I’d Love to Change the World, and more. A lot of his songs were kinda set ups for his awesome soloing, actually.
