    The album version sounds most natural and rehearsed. The single and ghost solo sound more “improvised”

    Never understood the two guitar lead breaks. I was a kid when this came out. The album version kicks ass. What we heard on the radio was ridiculous.

      I'm from Australia when this came out on the radio. I bought the single and the solo sounded great! Later when the album came out, I bought that and when hearing how 'Let It Be' was remixed and with the over-powering solo, sounded inferior the the magic mix of the original.

    In the isolated version of the album version, you clearly hear that little octave note before the highest note of the sole. For some reason, any youtube guitar video replicating the sole omits that little note. It's clearly there at 1:44!

    Third time was a charm for George. First live solo is bad. Single version is okay/passable. But the album release version is perfection. The Naked alt. version is pretty cool, too.

    To be honest, I think the album one (with which all of us who were not around at the time are probably most familiar with) is by far the best. It plays so perfectly with the song, amplifying its beautiful and joyous feeling. It's also significantly more climatic and much stronger-sounding than the other ones, some of which you can barely even make out the guitar in. Maybe it's because that's the one I was first familiar with, but I just don't see how any of the others can measure up.

    How George got so much overdrive out of his January 4 guitar solo is something that baffles gear nerds like myself. Sure, the 100-watts Fender Twin Reverb could really get loud and crunchy, but to me, it sounds like George is either using a Fuzz Face, or running his guitar straight into through a mic preamp. What would you say?

    • @isolatedstems
      @isolatedstems  Před 7 měsíci +5

      A person named Chris Buck did a video about how that tone was achieved and it does seem like George did use a Fuzz Face to get the overdrive heard on the final record.

    • @elirosen1391
      @elirosen1391 Před 7 měsíci +3

      @@isolatedstems I saw that video, and yes, the tone does soundly largely identical to what's in the video. But like most guitar enthusiasts, the thing that makes me doubt that is that George was usually one to turn his guitar up to max volume. And if you've heard a guitar in full volume with the fuzz face, you know the fuzz tends to swallow the sound up. But then again, he wasn't dealing with layers of other loud guitars on LIB or IMM. So who know? Maybe he did use the fuzz face with his guitar dialed down in volume. Makes you wish EMI had taken better notes on what equipment they used.

    I have an impression people vote for the version they are most familiar with. However, musically the naked album version is most compelling.

    Tbf to Phil Spector he did pick the best solo. I would love a mix that uses both the single solo and the album solo as well as the brother Malcom lyrics

      @isolatedstems  Před 10 měsíci +1

      @@Oh_I_WillI think some of the heat over his production was justified. But Lennon didn't let Phil do his wall of sound on his solo work as much as George did on All Things Must Pass

    IDK if this is true, but according to Ian McDonald in his book 'Revolution In The Head' the single and album solos were meant to be played together, presumably one coming from the left speaker and the other from the right. I wonder if anyone has tried to overlay one on top of the other to see if they match?

    • @isolatedstems
      @isolatedstems  Před 3 měsíci

      The original stereo album mix actually does have both solos playing. The April "single version" solo can be heard in the left channel. Although I'm not sure if it was intentionally done as it's sorta buried.

    I am so glad that the final 1970 album version solo exists. The rest are just way to meandering and, well, noodling for my taste. The very first one, the ghost solo, is riddled with mistakes.

    I like the one on the album I'm not crazy about Phil spector production I think george martin given time would have made a better version but no one wanted to go thrue the miles of tape and they had a contract to release one more album in the 70s so they sent it to Phil but paul never signed and one of John's interviews he said paul was probably Wright all along so take from that what you will but paul said in many interviews he didn't want to sue the others but in order to get rid of cline he had to.

    Yeah, I concede that I like the studio album's soloes the best, but what if they released a version with *all* the soloes included? Like, put the single & 27b takes in, then boost the ghost solo so one can hear it clearer? I think it may yield something akin to Robert Fripp's guitar parts on "Heroes:" he did three takes that all worked the best when they played them together. What are your thoughts? Can it be done?

    • @isolatedstems
      @isolatedstems  Před měsícem

    The single version is sooooooo much better.
    It has the better guitar solo, also on the album version the brass is far too loud.
    The single sounds smoother, George Martin >>> Phil Spector.
