Ruby amy has been a top deck for 4 sets now they want to ban a green card? I am not in love with bucky but Ruby amy can control the board, aggro and draw a ton of cards that seems busted too.
It's starting to turn into a bunch of complainers now. Bucky came out second. R/A players are complaining.
@@lerak8452almost everyone is complaining. It's a horrible card design. It was when I called it a problem in set 2. It's even worse now with Diablo.
Sure, it's a god hand, but T1 Diablo, T2 Bucky, Shift Diablo basically sets up your opponent to win the game before it's even started. Bad design is bad.
That said, this errata is trash. So too would a ban or even just restriction be a problem. It would've been much more elegant for them to hate Bucky out of the format with some new card designs.

@@christophertolbert4275 as someone that played mufasa exclusively before, no it can’t. Red/ purple has too much. Going for it in questing, drawing, and removal.
Bucky will no longer see play. They should have done one of the 3 effects. The real thing I think they should do is not touch bucky and just add cheap mass/ multi card removal or damage to more than just steel. Or change how ward works.
Horrible decision. Ban it. Or better yet restrict it. I hate not being able to use my cards because some designer doesnt understand the competitive players of their games.
This errata is just a mess.
They did this, because people won't scream about needing more cards banned like this. They are getting the "no, not like that!" reaction that they wanted. Here is to hoping the new set gives us some new color combinations in top teir, because current variety suggests this removal may just make the meta worse.
So ruby am being the top decks for multiple sets is fine but not Emerald
If you couldn't beat the linearity that is the Amethyst/Ruby deck, then you got outplayed. Losing to Emerald because of Bucky generating massive value is broken.
Bucky changed being "overdone" is kind of a meaningless complaint. Worst case he becomes just another not great uncommon. He was grossly overtuned to begin with and really messed up their design space ( literally every low cost floodborn forever was gonna have to be balanced with Bucky in mind).
That said drastic card changes aren't really a doable thing in physical card games. Does ravensburger think every other game just forgot they could do this? No, magic/Pokemon/Yu-Gi-Oh etc go with the ban/restrict option (as inelegant as it is) because issuing huge errata to an existing physical card is hard to do and lately not worth the player confusion. They really just should have banned Bucky and printed this as a replacement, whether as Bucky or a completely new card.
Errata should NOT be used to make balance changes. Terrible precedent and a huge hit to my confidence in this game

@@moptasticable that's the literal point of errata: to balance the card. If fixing a broken card hurts your confidence in this game, find another game. But I will tell you, EVERY TCG goes through balance patches, be it an errata, a banlist, or set rotation🤷🏾♂️
@@LAsuperfly94no, that's the point of errata in the DIGITAL card game space. For a physical game, it is fucking awful.
All this errata does is "ban" Bucky without officially creating a ban list and banning him. Quite frankly, I'd have rather they just made a Restricted List and put Bucky on it. Then the players can still use him as is, and still see him often with the generous mulligan that this game offers.
That is clean. That is elegant. People still get to use their cards and there is no need to check the card on the app prior to play.
@@LAsuperfly94 errata should not be used to completely change what a card does. Errata for Befuddle was fine because the intent of the card was preserved. I am perfectly fine with banning (which is what they should have done if that thought Bucky was a problem) but errata isn’t the way you should balance for a physical card game
@Xoulrath_ erratas have happened in other physical TCGs (think Yugioh, Pokemon, and Digimon to name a few) and they turned out alright. This will be no different. Errata'd Buckys will be printed to reflect the change. Sorry not sorry if it inconveniences you to:
- remember Bucky doesn't do what he used to do
- refer to the game's official card text on Bucky either on the app or written down

It should have been if you used Shift the entire time. Or Bucky needed to be exerted to do it. Or something. Just giving him that ability, while also protecting him with Ward, made it so that you just build your board while dismantling your opponent's hand. Then they play to the board which is the typical strategy to shut down discard, and you get hit hard there by the Steel removal.
The card was a problem as soon as it was made as it currently exists. This errata is a joke reaction to it though, that's for sure. And it doesn't even stop people from using the deck to get their Ursulas. So why bother to even announce it now?
The ability to discard a card by shifting a character was perfect. Removing ward and increasing this cost was unnecessary.
Any one of the three changes and he would have remained playable without being insufferable, two of the 3 and he is casual and tech. All three and he is hot garbage.
Lmao don’t be a discard defender. If you need a card to discard things to win you’re bad at the game. Play a different color or go play a different game and see how far you get without being able to discard your opponent’s cards.

If they reprint the errata’d version, seems alright and healthy. Still pesky, but I think cutting ward AND increasing ward was rough.

It's already not the most represented deck in top cuts. Obviously, it will fall off more. Now you also will lose to Ruby Am. Which was your best matchup before. Like, Your comment makes no sense lmao
@@lorcanamans green/steel is gonna be much weaker now. When that deck doesn’t draw Bucky, it’s usually a loss. The whole deck is gonna have to change now

Taking away Ward or demanding the Shift could have been enough. If a card was overpowered there is nowhere to go but down.

The increased cost should be enough on its own. It should still have ward if they are nerfing ability and increased cost.
Yeah, this was just a ban without claiming that it's a ban. I do like that they set up the Shift condition to trigger the ability, seeing as how that's what Floodborn were designed to do. But the cost increase, change to ability, and loss of Ward just literally makes it almost completely unplayable.

This is my issue. This card came out during Chapter 2. It was fine though bcause R/A was still on top.
Now, all of a sudden, it was a domino effect of all the CZcamsrs complaining about Bucky. Two chapters later. I think it's a sad day for Lorcana.

Bucky was bad card design. Period. I don't agree with this errata, but Bucky was a problem.
@Xoulrath_ again, why talk complain about it? Chapter 4? They have some say at these events. I'm sure they're in RB ear at these events. They get invited to play for Championship events. Only 16 of them. Yes, it is possible.

The card needed two other three changes but I feel like people aren’t looking into the future enough. The card design will continue to evolve and the card can still be broken but people aren’t looking at future card design and saying the card is unplayable bc I can’t do broken discard every turn starting from turn 2. This game should not turn to ban list and people saying it should haven’t learned anything from other tcg. Floodborn will continue to see support and from the support side of no ink shift cost. No deck should just straight up mulligan 7 to search for a card. When that happens you know something is wrong

They should have just banned the card and released the newer version in a future set.
i agree with the below, they need to add removal to other colors beyond steel because it makes steel extremely potent. in magic they've got each ability in multiple different colors and i think that more probably to balance it. not a fan of bucky or emerald steel/the bird but if they had more variety/ways to remove stuff they wouldn't have to errata/ban

Changing Bucky was fine, but this was way too drastic. Now they've opened the floodgates for many more changes, despite their statements.

I wasn't the biggest fan of Bucky but, dang. I think just removing the ward tag would have been ok.
This is effectively a ban. At least in a competitive meta. Creating a set 4 without Bucky met for just Toronto is really missing the mark. I can't imagine how most players will be able to test that meta since only those competitors will care.
Instead of a nerf to make it a bit less powerful. They crippled the card and made it entirely useless 🤣

Very well deserved, still powerfull with prince and ursula that can song twice, also they have beast and diablo, the only diference is now thay they cant discard by only "summon" anymore unless they go tiger and ursula😊 which will be more hard to achive but still deathly, so deck will be for sure top tier

I feel Bucky is no longer playable. I also feel that the draw aspect so 2 players tie is more disheartening then Bucky ever was. I watched a 12 hopes get crushed because 4 adults decided not to play and just tie to make top 8 at a store championship. Almost made me sell all of my cards and find another game.
Errating physical cards is terrible if a reprint is not available for players

Love your channel. Been watching forever. To answer your question. I think this is the worst solution to solve the problem. Erratas to cards is terrible. The ban list would have way better to utilize here.
It also would have meant they wouldn't need to get new copies of Bucky out and could ban until they had a few sets to fix with new ways to answer Bucky and then unerrata it. Happy to see Bucky go but not in this way.
would have preferred a ban. this is crazy how much they nerfed it ive never seen a game nerf a card so hard. its a slippery slope errataing like this. the game is still within its first year pushing like this will kill it if they keep it up. im all for a clean ban but this was just weird
They definitely over nerfed it. If non-interactibility was the issue, they could've keep the ward but make him a 2 cost 1/3, and same discard text but only triggers when Bucky is exerted. 3 cost 1/1 without ward is so bad.
I'm ok with a small nerf but this is overkill. Just raising the cost, or requiring shift would have been more than enough

Why make the cards in the first place in printing it is there own fault, is absurd to nerf any card is better to leave it as such just come up with counter cards against it and that's it.
I get like every update to the card was unnecessary, one ability change would've sufficed. Are they going to change Queen's Castle next?
Queen's Castle is fine. Attack it. It isn't hard. People keep shitting on Support as an ability, yet it's right there and makes it super easy to remove big Willpower targets. Not to mention staples like Maui already exist and mostly handle it by themselves. Not to mention cards in Steel that straight up remove Locations. Or cards like Bare Necessities that yanks it from hand.
Bucky was only ever an issue because of the Ward. Since he had Ward, they should have made it such that he needed to be exerted to get the benefit of his ability. This would have exposed him. They could have already had the "if Shifted" clause on the card as well. There were plenty of ways to make Bucky playable without making him broken.
The reality is that Bucky has been banned without officially being banned. It isn't even remotely worth using now.
@@Xoulrath_ it cost one to move there, it doesn't get banished in one hit, two lore per turn, extra draw power character there. If it's right there, meaning Support, why isn't anyone utilizing it? Because it's not viable in the long run, at least not yet.
Ward on any character is a pain, but they made cards to get around that...counted most of them if not all are in steel. Ruby may be able to get rid of Ward characters with the right removal cards.
All I'm saying is, there are plenty of other cards in other colors, people feel that needs to be looked at as well.
If they care about players enjoying themselves, then they should care about all players who have problems with certain cards.
I never had a problem with Bucky, or any of the other "problematic" cards people complain about. I adapt to the different play styles, and try to find ways to over come them.

@@Dragonia9 no, what you said in your response to me is not clear at all. I've got two copies of Castle in paper. Quire frankly, it's a slow, clunky card that isn't as good as players make it out to be. I'm currently trying to use the two copies that I have in several different decks, and honestly, there are almost always better decisions than taking a turn off to play Castle.
As I mentioned to begin with, Castle has 7 Willpower. Not every single card in the game should be so easily removed on a card for card basis. That is bad design. Castle is easily dealt with by a Maui and any 1 Strength character. It is completely wiped out by cards in Steel. A Fox and a Snake take it out; I've done it plenty of times. Snake on board, attack for 3, play Fox, bounce Snake, finish the Castle.
Castle is not a Bucky, whereby you can NOT interact with it at all from a Challenge perspective without using cards like the new Piglet and Namaari, that come down too late to matter. You have to be in Steel, using board wipes or Triton's Decree with only Bucky on board.
The Castle and Hiram after he quests, can be Challneged and dealt with easily. Bucky can not. Be Prepared, another card that people seem to complain about, can be played around. Bucky can not.
So I'm not really sure what your point is, because you didn't really complain about Bucky being effectively banned. But you did complain about the clunky errata, and then casually mention Castle without going into any detail.
I'd rather they just ban Bucky. Unless you're up to date with Lorcana rulings, kids will continue to play Bucky the way it is...

Bucky is good card and deck was fun to play and it was not auto win. All haters who cant afford that deck cry "ban bucky" so i can auto win with my RA deck. Now we will have RA meta. Ruby cards will go high in price and all haters will cry to ban another card.
