  • FM transmitter. FM transmitter radio stations need a transmitter but how do you choose the right FM transmitter for your radio station? I will also show you how to tell which broadcast transmitters are good value for money, which ones sound better, and which ones give the best signal range.
    #fmtransmitter #transmitter #fmbroadcast #fmantenna #radio #broadcast
Whether the FM transmitter is used for professional broadcasting, community radio, or pirate radio stations, the FM transmitter needs to have high-quality specifications. That means no matter whether the transmitter is for pirate broadcast or licensed radio stations, the specifications need to be good. Hobby radio which is interchangeable with pirate radio is not something that requires a lower-spec transmitter. In fact, pirate radio needs even better specifications to avoid being detected as a pirate broadcaster.
OK so Choosing the right transmitter for your radio station can make a difference to your sound quality, your signal range, and more importantly if you will cause interference with other signals.
So when you decide on a transmitter, it should not be just because it looks cool or is cheaper or has some high power level claim.
Having the strongest transmitter is not as important as you think and might actually be something you don’t want. I will explain this more as we go so keep watching.
Firstly there are two types of transmitters. They are FCC compliant and
    non-FCC compliant.
If you have a license to broadcast you must have an FCC-compliant transmitter.
In many countries, the transmitter does not have to be FCC approved but it must at least meet the minimum specifications which are normally at least as strict as FCC regulations or you can lose your license. If you don’t have a license and are running a hobby radio station then you are better off having an FCC-compliant transmitter anyway because non-FCC-compliant transmitters can be very bad as far as causing interference and going out of the specifications allowed by the laws in your country. Even if you are below the signal strength allowed in your country, if you interfere with some other people's signal you can run into some serious shit.
I'm talking about legal and civil cases.

I would like a good quality stereo FM transmitter just to transmit music from my Reel to Reel machine to my FM tuner in the lounge and then through my speakers. I have two hifi systems.

There are a few options these days. The important thing is to understand how the audio quality varies dramatically. Some transmitters have quite nice audio while others sound shockingly bad. It is something I would recommend doing some research on. There are some videos here on CZcams that talk about the different models and which ones have the best audio. Definitely have a watch of a few of those before you make up your mind. I cant give any advice on specific models for home use as my experience is with broadcast transmitters. That's why I would say watching some of those other CZcams videos about specific low power transmitters would probably be better.

This is exactly the information I'm looking for on transmitters!
I hope your next video will explain the technical information (I'm not afraid of highly technical information) that will help me understand the technical specs given in eBay and other listings.

Hey that's great. I was hoping to post the full video but I ran out of time so had to make it 2 parts. Hope you will enjoy part 2 as soon as it's ready. I'm trying to keep it to just the Information that people need without too much technical detail that can overwhelm people. See you then. Cheers.

Where are the links in the description you mentioned in the video?

The links were removed because they change so quickly. As soon as products are sold the link address changes so unfortunately its not practicle to keep the links.

how many miles this can broadcast for

The signal range, or Miles of the signal, has more to do with how high the antenna is above the average ground and the terrain you transmit to but in most cases with an antenna above 10 meters from the ground a 1 watt transmitter can go about 1 to 5 Miles and 10 watt transmitter can go about 10 Miles. After that you need much more power to go further . There is not much difference in the range between a 50 Watt transmitter and a 300 Watt transmitter which both go about 20 Miles. That is why putting the antenna higher up makes more difference. More power just means a stronger signal inside your broadcast area.

Well, every time you double your power you go up by 3DB. Power is logarithmic.
      1 W 30 dBm
      10 W 40 dBm
      100 W 50 dBm
      1000 W 60 dBm
So to go up the same amount as 1 watt to 10 watts, at 10 watts, You would need to increase your output to 100 w. (Then 1000....etc )

    Howmuch

      @inspiresoundpro  Před rokem

The prices vary depending and the power output and quality of the transmitter. Best to research what is available for sale and which ones are FCC approved.

The price can vary from very cheap to expensive. There is no fixed price for transmitters. It depends where you buy it and what quality it is and power level output of the transmitters.
