For me, it's the Suzuki V-Strom SX all the way. I always loved the Gixxer 250. I was holding back due to the riding posture and there was a rumour of an Intruder 250 getting launched in India. V-Strom SX was a bit of a surprise and a pleasant one at that. An ADV with Gixxer's heart sounds sweeter than a cruiser.

I have a 2021 Himalayan which at 13,000km has developed transmission problems and stalling problems so bad that it is no longer fun to ride so it sits in the garage. RE has been unable to fix the stalling issue that happens below 2,000 rpm. It is a common problem to many owners. It has gotten continually worse since about 2,000km when it first began, and it has been getting so bad, my wife and I have decided to replace it with the V-Strom 250 SX. We liked the Himmy until RE could not fix the constant stalling which made the bike useless off road and in city traffic. My suggestion to anyone looking for a new bike would be to look at reliability. Price is meaningless if the bike cannot be ridden. The V-Strom 650 has been known for it's reliability and I am sure that the 250 is going to be the same as it's big brother, where the Himalayan on paper looks good but it is notorious for having stalling issues, transmission issues, engine vibration damage to the instrument cluster and headlight ,(1,300km) and the steering head bearings going bad which began giving me problems at 3,000km.

Unless you’re a hardcore off roader, you absolutely don’t need this bike. Any bike can handle sufficient off road that Indian roads throw at you, while this bike will shine on trails. Abysmal speed on highways if you want the engine to last long, upper limit of 80 for long touring.
The fuel economy is good, and only because the 200cc runs like a 160cc. Ride is comfortable over bumps. Easy to repair. Apart from its off road performance these are the only major plus points. Finally it depends for what purpose the thing was bought. For me it’s an average bike through and through

While the ADV 250 and Himalayan do come in the price bracket, the V Storm customer is probably in the market for a commuter-tourer such as CB350 , Dominar twins, and Yezdi Roadster which are at the same price and have similar capabilities and characteristics. I feel the CB 350 is its only true competitor being Japanese.
