      True, in vdL's country Germany train system gets even worse every year.

    • @nokedili
      @nokedili Před měsícem +22

      yes exactly
      In Hungary (where I live) the state owned train company, MÁV advises not to use their trains. They exist for one purpose and they can't fulfill it. Most trains are very old, have no AC, the floor is a meter high up and the only way up is very steep stairs (I am young, fit and able-bodied but if I have a bigger backpack even I have problems climbing up). The trains are slow (always below 80km/h but at some places it's 60km/h), constantly late and unreliable, they break down a lot and replacement buses suck too (they, too tend to break down). Yet, sometimes there's no other way to get to places other than train or car (which many people don't have)
      in the two, westernmost counties (Vas and Győr-Moson-Sopron), there's another train company called GYSEV-Raabenbahn which surprise surprise works. It's not owned by the Hungarian state but sadly they're trying to change that

      @@eddastrohmayer251 I just watched a video yesterday, explaining that the rail service in Germany will probably now get even worse, but that's because there's a major overhaul of the whole network starting soon. That should modernize the network and reduce delays and increase speeds across the country.
      In Czechia, for example, they're constantly modernizing the fleet and building new high-speed rails.
      I'm cautiously optimistic about the TEN-T project.

A direct vote, a referendum by the people if it were the case here should be secret. The representation of the will of the people is gone here, since we got to vote for those that vote her in. I do think more democracy is needed at an EU level, but treaty change will likely be needed for that to happen, so it's really up to the members to make that happen, if they don't, then the blame firmly goes on them not the EU.

    As you said, you either love her or hate her. I personnally love her and how she acted during this legislature. Beginning with the fact that she is the first female EU Commission President, and a determined one. She has ambition for Europe and the developments that happened during these 5 years are remarkable (Green Deal, many acts mainly the common EPS Act, etc). She dealt the crisis perfectly and she knows how to handle 27 national leaders. I also personnally believe the Migration Pact was something good and necessary in order to calm down the fears of some people that later tend to vote to the far-right.
    And now in her speech it makes me love her even more. I just hope her new plans come to fruition in these next 5 years

      You just cant understand that Russia energy will be crucial for Europe and that US made and is making everything to prevent EU technology and Russian energy to merge. That would be huge competition for US.
      So US is happy if things in EU go most wrong and bad and the best is if Russia and EU can suffer together
