    Hi
    This Mitsubishi Shogun came to me with pretty much no brakes!
    The ABS and brakes warning lights constantly on, accompanied by this really annoying continuously beeping...
    This revealed in the end, to be the common issue that most of the Mitsubishi equipped with the HBB brake system, ultimately suffer from...
    Follow me on this video to find out what was the problem and how to resolve it.
    Hope you enjoy the video.
    Any questions or comments put them below.
    Like always, thank you for watching!

    I have a weird case. 2002 Mit's Montero Ltd. The cover begins to vibrate and make a squeeky kind of noise for maybe 10-15 seconds and it does it more frequently as time has gone on. This has been going on for years and my ABS warning light use to be on, but I don't think it is anymore. My brakes are good and after I was given a price of $2,500, but my braking is ok, so I've ignored it. Now, it is driving me crazy and thanks to you, I have a better idea of how it works and how to fix. Right now, before I remove and replace with a used motor or a new one, I need diagnostics on whether it is my Control Unit or the Motor. I'll post a short video of my problem

    Thank you to make this video for us.What y want to say is that if you could find the correct brushes (and y know that the comutator on the rotor is a bit worn) you could repair it by replaceing the brushes,not the rotor.

    • @jusb1066
      @jusb1066 Před 5 lety +2

      brushes are easy, just measure the size, and you can file larger size down, all sizes from china. (BUT maybe softer and wear faster than original, who often use copper infused brushes) but in this case it wasnt only the brushes, the commutator was worn to the point it fell apart, i guess they make the brushes long and hard enough to last as long as the commutator

I have fitted a second-hand pump just to get the car mobile but the abs & the esp fault codes are still there as I can not 'code' the sbc pump to the car that needs the Mercedes X system requiring a visit to a dealership & huge money even if they would do it for me (I doubt it with secondhand pump) it's more than the car is worth with their prices. With hindsight, especially when you consider there are only two bolts holding the motor, would it not be easier to leave the master cylinder in place and work under it blind and remove the two bolts and draw the motor out without disturbing the master cylinder and its hydraulics?

    The downside of this mechanical/shock method is very fast fix and that the client after this diagnose will see that the car is fixed and will not want to really fix the problem.But the fix is for a short period of time,and will came back to you begging to fix the car by repairing the motor like you told them from the start.

    does this motor run everytime the brakes are applied? thats a lot of hours to wear away the commutator

    • @LMAutoRepairs
      @LMAutoRepairs  Před 5 lety +2

      Not really.... it builds pressure on the accumulator/reservoir and then runs to maintain the pressure.... you can brake a few times before the pressure drops and the motor kicks in...
      Still.... there is a lot of running time for a little motor like this... should be a brushless motor...

    Next time when you suspect problem with a motor with brushes before you dismantle the motor try to hit the motor with a hammer.GENTLY ! If there are brushes worn but with a little life left in them the motor will start to work again.I apply this tactic with starter motor,alternator,fan motor..Especially when working on the field and i don' t have much time or resources around me.
