TV drama's leading light Suranne Jones on creating her own important story on screen | ITV News

Suranne Jones has opened up about starring in ITV’s newest crime-thriller ‘Maryland’, a role which she says was heavily influenced by her own life.
The actor and producer, who rose to prominence as Karen McDonald in Coronation Street between 2000 and 2004, has appeared in big name shows including Doctor Foster, Gentleman Jack, and Vigil.
ITV News' Arts Editor Nina Nannar spoke to the star about how dealing with grief in her own life has influenced her recent work.

Just finished watching the drama Maryland! Really intriguing story. Would love a follow-up series that gives us more insight into the mum who was leading a double life in a completely different place. Also the fact she'd been adopted, and found her mum in later life in the Isle of man! I thought the cast were excellent!

Fantastic! Strange last night I had a lovely dream. So you brought my dog to me who's passed. Then you served justice in relation to my past. Woke up to the bell it was my sister and we've not been speaking and also disagree about our mother. We're going out Tomorrow. So I then forgot about my dream until now and I wondered why you were in it?? I do like your stuff don't get me wrong but not even watched tv for 7 years 🤣 so googled what I thought was your name and not you?? 🤫 typed in British actress and there you were...my middle name is Anne too so we share Anne Jones 😀 just watched that you'll be on tv tonight and I will be watching!! Winnie Wallace.... Started off really well, then down hill rapidly..By the time it got to the third episode it was dire. This is definitely a drama that won't be getting a Bafta. If you haven't watched yet , give it a miss.

I really like her and admire her strength and feisty characters as in Scott & Bailey but this was really boring ,tstuck out 2 episodes and gave up …Eve best a strange choice - maybe too bland and straight in my own opinion :(
