Man the first time I heard that 3254 whistle my heart just about jumped out of my chest. I grew up a short distance from the railyards in small town Ontario and used to sit on a rock watching the steam locs and yard switchers at work. But that sound! OMG It makes me 5 yrs old again. And the last steam loco to go thru our town (in the night) had that same whistle. By the time I got in view of the tracks she was gone. Thank you America for preserving a little Canadiana.
I bet no one was expecting that 3 months after this was uploaded 3254 would be pulled from service and that she'd never run again with another locomotive replacing her
@@nathancorcoran5347 a lot of issues. After a pretty severe wreck in 1941, 3254 suffered pretty severe frame damage, which plagued her throughout her excursion service, especially towards the very end
@@electrik_loss I know. It’s a shame that Canadian National 3254 no longer operates anymore. It is another popular locomotive. And we do know that Boston & Maine 3713 is going to be the replacement of CN 3254 in excursion service.
late response, but 3254 is awaiting a 15 year inspection/overhaul. And Steamtown has plans to restore other engines first before overhauling 3254, such as baldwin loco works 26. The next to tentatively be restored is Boston & Maine 3713. After that i believe its Canadian Pacific 2317. Anyway, Steamtown has a lot of plans/projects they want to finish before they look back at 3254. Hope this helps if you still dont know what happened to her.

If you want to see this steam locomotive class there’s one at the Canadian railway museum
@@masterbadger9408have you seen that one in person recently? I believe it is in storage. The latest picture I’ve seen of it is in 2001
@@backonpro5679 nah. All I could find of it is that photo and I think some blurry pictures from 60’s or 70’s
I wish Canadian Pacific 2023 and 2024 should come over there
awesome video of this railroads rail fest with this steamer

It was Heartbreaking for me to hear.
@@EngineerDaylight These things happen whether we like it or not, but nothing can ever stay the same sometimes.

Great video!! You got her at some really good spots...
Frame: I'm about to end this engine's whole career
Awesome video, Mr. Chad! That last shot was kickass! Thumbs up and a fav, and can't wait to see the rest of the footage!
Well, on Saturday they almost hit one, but thankfully on Sunday there were no known problems! First time I've chased with no ATV problems!
Great Video!
Awesome video Chad! Glad you still got to go!
Could at least send 3254 back to Canada to join 3716!
Great video, thanks for sharing.
Wasn't like last year when the kids got one of there 4-wheelers stuck on the track on Sundays Railfest 2011 excursion.
I can see my self!!!
try to get up here soon, because 3254 won't be up for too much longer
Nice!
@ELMSLines So does that mean she'll be in service any time soon?
Steamtown neglects much of its equipment
Will 3254 ever run again, Ive heard it won't.
They planned to do a lot of things, they have said they probably gonna retire her but you never know.
Why would they retire 3254?
she has frame damage.
