Reading & Northern 2102 is back again for another round of Iron Horse Rambles through the scenic mountains of Pennsylvania’s beautiful Anthracite Region. The 120 mile round trip journey between North Reading and Jim Thorpe continues to attract railfans and tourists alike to the Anthracite Region from all over the country, just to enjoy the sights and sounds of riding behind the loudest steam locomotive in the states. This video features both trackside scenes as well as on ride footage behind the 2102 between Port Clinton and Jim Thorpe as the train traverses the winding ex-Reading and CNJ tracks through bustling towns, a tunnel, and over the Hometown High Bridge. Now, please enjoy this exciting video brought to you by Blue Comet Productions!
This video was filmed on July 1st, August 13th, September 2nd and October 1st, 2023.
So nice to see steam on the Reading and Northern without needing diesel help or even a water car

Every time I see this railroad it just brings warmth to my heart
The wonderful technology.
An attractive scenery.
Every time 2102 gets some light to run, it’s getting even more epically beautiful!
Everytime you come back to this line, its getting more and more beautiful.
Great video. The audio is perfect. You really captured that on board sound spot on, without all of the wind noise.
awesome video from start to finish, ive ridden 4 times already. twice last year and twice this year and i keep going back for more behind 2102. you really cannot find another regional railroad that will offer big mainline steam with 1920's open window style passenger cars at track speed. anyone can do a tourist line any day or time of the year. but riding behind big steam is a rare and special opportunity.
Great footage! Glad we both got to see 2102 on these 4 days 👍
Im just in shock. Award winning editing, photography!

Wow. All I can say.
Yo. Awesome shots. At the 50:30 mark I was at Miller's Crossing Rd. with others on hand for the August 13th run.
the reason why that engine is so powerful is because of how well the drafting is, if you watch the firebox on this thing from idle to running, that fire gets super hot within a minute max, that drafting is because of the way the blast pipe is designed in the smoke box, that's the reason why its so loud and look how high the smoke is shot out of the smoke stack, should have been patented as "power draft"
Yee Yee Borther!
Outstanding footage! I make a brief cameo at 5:27 and 10:28!
I wonder how old is he 🖤💛

Very nice! I assume that the high pitched whistle is the original hooter and the other from some other railroad? also, how much of the original Reading Rambler excursions does this train travel on?
Both whistles are Reading whistles, and the Rambles ran on multiple different lines, but this follows original Reading tracks from North Reading up to Haucks, then from Haucks to Jim Thorpe it’s CNJ
Holly shit
it sounds like this locomotive has TWO WHISTLES!?!?!?!?
It does
Did anyone develop steam and electric, just like diesel and electric, train engines.
