    If you get second hand falcon seats it's worthwhile checking the 4 studs on each seat base frame as the welds were well known to crack and break off, I replaced lots of seat base frames as a tech 👍
    You can just weld the cracks up.

      I used to work in the factory that made those seats. I worked in Quality Control and lets just say some of the other QC guys were sub par. I would have 100's of reworks done, while others would pass everything. The studs in particular were just a small spot weld, often a light tap would knock them out.

      @@D1NG0 Hi Dingo, since you worked in the factory, do you know why the xr6 seats were so much comfier than LC seats? Dou you also know what materials were used?

    • @D1NG0
      @D1NG0 Před 4 měsíci

      @@thejukeytp7131 I worked in the factory that did the framework, we would also install the motors and lumbar support etc. the upholstering and final assembly was done somewhere else.
      The only difference I can remember is the XR seats had some extra wire framing for the extra bolstering.

    Hey mate, definitely look into the base cracking issues those xr6 seats have. Most seats out there even if they're mint to look at and sit in, have those base corners cracked. A set I bought were like that, apparently very common fault. Getting it fixed by an upholster. Check yours out too

    We pulled out our XR6 seats in our 60 series to get roadworthy, and sourced factory seats !
    Insurance company could reject any claims, as such you need to engineer.
    Be mindful that any other mods may not be overlooked by engineer at the same time.
    As recently had to jump through hopes with GVM for 105, safari turbo ( installed 20 years earlier ) had to be engineered as was not factory, some emission testing, etc.
    That said XR6 seats may go back in down the track, once we can go on long drives again.

    • @AForRealGamer
      @AForRealGamer Před 3 lety

      Did you upgrade your gvm on the 105?interested in what you did and by how much, I’ve got a 105 and am looking at gvm at the moment, also a turbo fitted nearly 20yrs ago at Berrima Diesels so I’m interested in what emissions you had to meet. Need to get mine blue plated here in Qld as I just swapped the front passenger 3/4 seat for a bucket so it’s classed as a change in configuration (6seater down to 5seater) thinking to get everything on the one mod plate(allowed 4 mods on 1 plate).

    I bought some xr6 leather seats pre covid, possibly 2019 and they were already over inflated pricewise so based on the conidtion of yours they're no more expensive that back then. PS: I'm getting rid of them because I find them less comfortable than the stock 76 series seats and have become concerned about the fact that they're non compliant unless you get an engineer to certify (the Hurrican brackets include ADR compliance but the seat install requires separate compliance for the individual vehicle). John Rooth put some sedan seats in Milo some years ago, they did not stand up to the rigours of off-road use, the frames were lighter and broke after a few months. Now I'm sure that Roothy put more stress on those seats in the few months that he had them than many are likely to achieve in 2 years, but his comment was clear, they are not suitable for off-road use. Good seats will make any car nicer to drive. However unless the adapters are covered by an engineers report, it is an illegal modification. So in the event of a crash, the car would be deemed to be un roadworthy. So your insurance is gone. Imagine if you had just squashed a half million $ Lambo or something? But wait, it gets better.
    If you were unlucky enough to have caused the crash and someone was injured or killed you could find yourself facing criminal proceedings (illegal, unroadworthy car). Even if the seats had nothing whatsoever to do with the crash.
    When I was doing stuff like this, an engineers report was around $500. No idea what it would cost these days but its still cheap insurance.

      The conversion kits are compliant in every state in Australia. BUT, installation must be inspected and signed off by a certified engineer in the state the vehicle is registered. Until then, installation is non-compliant.
