My version of MV8-OP1 adds 6 individual outs. This is a test video showing it working. If you're interested in getting one, please comment below. Currently I hand assemble and test them in my spare time, and it is very time consuming.
My test setup: Korg Volca Beats (drum machine) - MV-8800 -- Zoom U-44 (audio interface) -- iPhone.
This OP1 uses several AK4396 DAC, which are better and newer than AK4393 used on the original OP1 (AK4396 is in fact, 3 generations newer, from this DAC family). The output path post the DAC follows the original design. I made other small improvements to the original circuit where I can, but these are less significant so I won't go into any further details.
It is possible to add 2 more outputs and an additional MIDI IN/OUT pair, but the width of the MV8 slot/bay is not enough to accommodate the connectors. The only solution is to build another daughter board, and stack the 2 boards together, so the extra connectors are stacked, utilizing the height of the MV8 slot/bay. I might do this in a future update, providing there's enough interest and motivation for me to do so.

I think what you have done is absolutely amazing. If you were able to add 2 more outputs and an additional MIDI IN/OUT pair I would be very interested in purchasing. Please continue to make these -- there are many people who desperately want the expansion card but refuse to pay the ridiculous prices for the original. Excellent work!

I would say around $350. There was someone selling these with the 8 outputs and the MIDI IN/OUT for around that amount about a year ago.
I agree that around $350 would be the sweet spot. Considering that's over half of what the actual units are selling for on Ebay, asking any more would make the purchase difficult to justify. In the modern age of sampling, $350 goes a long way. However, I'm very partial to the MV8800 and I could definitely justify $350 for 8 outputs and additional midi in/out pair! I hope you keep up the good work sir!

I wish you made these a few years ago. I finally got my hands on the unicorn OP-1 card back then at ($500) mind you. As a diehard MV user, this is great for the community. If I ever get another, I'll definitely keep you in mind. Peace...Netm8kr

It’s a great job but to be fair it’s not an op1 clone is it? doesn’t have any digital outputs which frankly what I think is most important aspect of the op1. One of these but with spdif or even better adat would be amazing ( no need to have to track down the just as rare dif box!.). That said if all you’re after is extra analog outs then all credit to you!

It would be possible to make a digital input, but it's a lot more involved. I can't put a number on the cost yet.

Getting hold of an MV isn't difficult. Getting the original OP1 was really tough, which is why I created this compatible card
